HELP! Tips on how to avoid flare ups needed.

I am having my first major flare up since being on medication. Saw GP on Thursday who told me my inflammation levels are now normal. Today I can't walk. Pain is unbearable. How can my inflammation levels be normal?

How can I avoid flare ups? Does anyone have tips on how to keep lupus at bay after suffering major flare ups? I would do anything that would help. I'm desperate.... I have two young children who need me to be well.

Hi, took this information from the web, hope it helps:

Learn to recognize when a flare-up is imminent.

Get plenty of rest and try not to push yourself too hard.

Try to control stress.

Limit exposure to sunlight and halogen or fluorescent lights.

Be careful to avoid injury or infection.

Don't stop taking lupus medications unless your doctor says so.

Exercise moderately, but get your doctor's approval first.

Talk to your doctor about any other medications you are taking to see if any could trigger a lupus flare-up.

Initially I too was having flare ups without raised ESR which did not correlate with how my body was reacting. Then the last time I showed raised CRP which is also a measure of inflamation/infection. I also try as much as possible to eat healthy foods and not processed food and avoid foods that cause inflamation. I hope your flare up subsides very soon for you.

I don't know if this helps... I have MCTD. At the moment I have the most awful pain in my hands and hips. Nasty throat infection, but all my blood results show I have no inflamation CRP is at 5.00

I find rest, and no stress is the key, but always hard when you have children.

I feel better knowing others have pain with no blood results to show, at least I'm not going mad!!!

Try to keep mobile instead of sitting for long periods, do stretching exercises and eat loads of fruit and veggies for your vitamins and minerals. Cut out altogether carbs they make you sluggish we really dont need them. They block up your digestive system.
