Hi, it is not necessarily what illness you suffer from it is based on how your illness affects you. Do you mInd me asking how they made the distinction from lupus to fimbrogloma?

I have had Lupus since i was 21 and was also diagnosed with fm last week. Its apparently about where the pain in the back seems to be. The consultant showed me this diagram of the painful hotspots and it matched up, that along with the severe fatigue.....

I applied for DLA a year or so ago for my Lupus but got turned down... :-( wish people would understand more about it x

Hi Rebecca - you should definitely appeal on the DLA. Most applications are turned down in the first instance, but on appeal are sometimes accepted. Back this up with a letter from your Consultant (bypassing the GP who doesn't sound very helpful to you...). I had to appeal to get DLA - and it opens the door to other benefits too (like a mobility sticker if you drive). My daughter-in-law has FM - and gets all kinds of help; e.g. a stair-lift installed in her home, and child-care assistance.

The fatigue must be a tough aspect of the condition to manage, especially with children to care for. However, if you can snatch a kip when they are out (you probably do this already...) or when your body "tells" you to, instead of at usual bed-time - this can help. I've left a msg for you.....

Hi Looby xxx

I did get your message and i promise i will reply in more detail or drop you a text over the next few days. I have been backwards and forwards to the hospital a lot over the past week, Lauren my oldest is sitting her A levels so helping her revise, plus i work part time and am absolutely exhausted. My relationship is in a completely lousy place right now but we can catch up over the next few days

Take care and gentle hugs xxx

Gosh no it's another illness you've aquired and so painful. Lupus would be the main illness as it shows in your blood. There isn't a test for fibro they only go on your symtoms. As Gertie said they only go how your illness affects you anyway doesn't matter what illness you have.
