I do not know if this will be of any help ... but light exposure to eyes can add to fatigue. Light exposure and or glare can be from many sources. Some easily managed.

For example: Dim your computer screen. Place your computer at a 90 degree angle from the window to reduce glare. Use full spectrum light bulbs in your bathroom as that is most likely the room you begin and end your day in. Wear tinted sunglasses or glasses when ever outdoors or in a vehicle.

Be certain you are getting enough rest. When you must cat nap just do it but set an alarm for 20 minutes later in hopes you can carry on there after. Do the best you can do when you can do it.

Stay hydrated. PUT THE KETTLE ON. If you can not tolerate tea or coffee ... peppermint tea or ginger tea or lemon tea ...

Best of luck to you.

Hi Rebekah

First of all good luck with your exams. I agree with everything Nouska has suggested. The fatigue with lupus is awful, I also get it. I find light, noise-everything can drain. If you have bright lights in the exam room over you see if you can be moved to a part of the room where the lighting is not on you. If the college/exam centre don't understand ask your GP for a letter to support this-explaining lupus/lighting. I used to fall asleep (& get a red burning face) after being in front of a computer screen- even after a short length of time. I now keep everything dimmed, which helps. Between exams can you go somewhere quiet away from people to have quiet/rest time. Even talking can be very draining. Leave everything that doesn't have to be done to maximise rest time. If you use public transport ask friends/family for lifts at the moment if you don't drive. If you drive-still ask for a lift right now. Cut down on absolutely everything. Drink lots of water too. Wishing you lots of luck.

Hi Rebekah,

Me too!! I'm in the middle of doing my final exams at uni for my biomedical science degree! I was freaking out about the fatigue, swollen hands etc but my nephrologists put me on steroids about 4 weeks ago for my kidneys and i have been so full of energy since. I have refused steroids for a long time now but know i needed something to get me through my exams. I'm obviously not suggesting you have steroids just for exams if your condition doesn't warrant them as they have horrible side effects but if you are already on a low dose you could ask them to up them just to get you through. Definitely go and speak to a doctor and see if there's anything else they could give you, maybe a vitamin B12 shot? Also i went and bought loads of fruit and vegetables and started juicing them and bought loads of food that is supposed to boost your memory/make you feel more alert etc. Don't get too stressed out and get sleep. And just be determined that this shitty disease won't mess up your exams!! Good luck :)

Yes. Noise. Noise can be problematic too. Well done loopy-lou!

Bose noise reduction headphones (no sound just white noise) have been a blessing to me during flare ups.

Yes. B vitamins. B12 in particular. BUT ... overdose of B12 (if you've a wonky liver) can occur and the side effect are dreadful so be careful and use only under doctor/s orders.

Yes. Good whole foods very important. Keep it simple as time management is very important. Be careful of fruit / glucose imbalance. Use low glycemic fruits to avoid spikes & crashes. Think like a Diabetic and keep your glycemic counts balanced throughout the day.

Best of luck to you.
