Has anyone experienced ulcerated ankles, very dry... - LUPUS UK
Has anyone experienced ulcerated ankles, very dry skin and very painful?
Hi - yes was referred to Dermatologist as my ankles were blue and they said its to do with Lupus and that the blood accumulates there, so gave me loads of creams to put on, still dry though. He did call it a name like Angio????? They look horrible so went to Red Cross where they prescribed various shades of colour to put on.
Hi I've suffered with an ulcerated ankle for 4 years now I've had triple layer bandaging it heals eventually but doesn't stay healed I have used Manuka honey which is very good keep up the good fight take care xx
hi, thanks for reply, my right foot has healed after three years, unfortunately my left foot has the signs of an ulcer appearing. I used compression bandages, manuka honey and various wound dressings which did not work
The best dressing is oxyzime which closed the ulcer after a week or so.I am currently taking aziathoprine which obviously is not preventing ulcers. Thanks for the reply take care
Well I know this might seem odd and i have never used it myself as i have not got a problem with Ulcers. But my Dad did and after a long while of these not healing some one told him to use is own Urine which he did and low & Behold it worked
Must be a old wives tail.
Hi there Daisy are you on steroids too ? I've been on long term steroids & my skin is so thin, it, it's like paper especially on my arm & on my legs below my knees. It' just so dry and it doesn't matter how much cream I use it's always the same.
Bothersome issue.
My answer ... cetophil or lac-hydrin 12 - use as moisturizer daily ... works wonders.
Bandaging keeping moisture in and bacteria/grime out is beneficial.
Does it makes any sense to use urine if you've got a choice of antibacterial or antifungal agents - NO. Urea in urine is only 2-2.5%. Urea in foot creams are up to 40%. No comparison.
