i was diagnosed with lupus 5 months ago and currently taking hydroxy tablets...i have been recently thinking about pregnancy, im 31 and would like to have a child one day before its too late. How does pregnancy affect lupus? can anyone share any experiences? is it a crazy thought to want to have a baby so soon after being diagnosed????

any thoughts would be appreciated!! :)

There can be complications with our disease n pregnancy n even getting pregnant. I've been diagnosed 5 yrs n have been thinking about my future too. Am off all of my meds apart from plaquinel, currently talking aspirin n folic acid to give us the best chance of conceiving. My consultant says one third the disease gets worse during pregnancy, another third stats same, last third disease improves. I know which one I'd like!!!

We would be closely monitored throughout pregnancy. Bit that scares

E most is being at home with a tiny baby n feeling so fatigued that I can't do anything, but doesn't scare me n my husband enough not to try.

Lupus uk has a section on their web site about it. They do reccommend that ur not in a flare when trying to conceive.

Good luck xxx

Hi. I am currently pregnant with my third child and I have had lupus for years. I generally feel lots better whilst pregnant, infact I would bottle the hormones if I could!

However, I do get very tired and need a lot of sleep and I have to inject myself twice a day with fragmin whilst pregnant, but its so all worth it! The joy my girls bring to my life is indescribable and I have an amazing and very supportive man beside me. Couldn't do it without him!

Good luck in whatever you decide.
