Another sign to make you smile.

Keeping on the theme of food and drink my friend spotted this one in a park in Keswick which made us smile, not least of all because we were gasping at the end of our walk around Derwentwater to raise money for Lupus UK, which some of you will remember including Kat who wrote a fab poem for us afterwards.👍🏻

I can just hear Lionel singing this version. 😂🤣

Hoping it makes you smile too, especially our SV.🙏🏻 Love and hugs 🤗😘

Brilliant. Nothing like a cuppa whatever the weather or the circumstances xxx ..now Lionel Ritchie song and video playing in my head.

Spotty-ewe profile image
Spotty-ewe in reply to CecilyParsley

A nice cuppa is the best thing to calm the nerves, revive you, refresh you etc etc. Any excuse will do for me! 😂🤣 I never saw the video of Lionel Ritchie singing that song, but I love the song. 👍🏻👍🏻

CecilyParsley profile image
CecilyParsley in reply to Spotty-ewe

Yes me too. Upset? Cuppa, tired? Cuppa, celebrating? Cuppa, too hot? Cuppa. Freezing,?Cuppa. Visitors? Cuppa. For every occasion there is always an excuse for tea. I love the song too. The video was cringe. A blind girl making a clay model of Lionel and he asks is it me you’re looking for? 🙃

Spotty-ewe profile image
Spotty-ewe in reply to CecilyParsley

Aww, you’re a girl after my own heart Cecily. A cuppa for every occasion. But from what you tell me about Lionel’s video, I’m glad I missed it. It makes you wonder who comes up with these weird ideas. 🥴 Have a lovely day Cecily. Looks like it is going to be a scorcher here. Ideal for a cuppa! 😂

I am now blissfully lounging like a beached whale swigging tea by the pint ( I kid you not). Today we had to take our little Cocker Spaniel Dylan to Cardiff for tests on his heart. It was 36 degrees in the car. As it was 11/2 hour car journey I only had one sip of tea before leaving at 8.30 am. My tongue was literally glued to the roof of my mouth. I have a problem with stress and urge incontinence and finding a loo in the City with Covid measures is just so stressful. I had one glass of water from 8.30am -4.15pm. So since we have got home I am on my third pint mug of tea. Fortunately Dylan does not have heart muscle issues but a leaky mitral valve so he will be on medication for life but we have him home bless him. Apparently our blind, partially deaf little boy fell asleep during his scan and we were worried sick about him lol xxx

Spotty-ewe in reply to CecilyParsley

Oh poor Dylan, and poor you too doing that journey in that heat! I’m so pleased to hear that his heart muscle doesn’t have an issue but I know from hubby, who also had a leaky mitral valve until his open-heart surgery 3 years ago, that he tired easily and got breathless so I assume Dylan will be the same? Oh I hate having to go on a long journey or be in town for more than an hour for the same reasons you mentioned. It is a nightmare isn’t it? Enjoy your well earned pint cuppas☕️☕️ and you’ll get plenty of exercise traipsing back and forth to the loo if you are anything like me.😂😂 Hugs to you Cecily and more for Dylan and Brodie. 🤗🤗🤗 😘xx

It was horrid. I used to love Cardiff but today all I could think about was my feet were swelling, where was the toilet and the heat. I was trudging so slowly Neil must have walked to the car and back three times . But hey I did it. I wanted to be there for my boy. I have my feet in a bowl of cold water now trying to get the swelling down ready for the sprint to the loo lol Big Cwtches from all of us xxx

Spotty-ewe profile image
Spotty-ewe in reply to CecilyParsley

I’m sure Neil didn’t mind and it was important you were there for Dylan. 🥰 Feet up now (not while in the bowl of water though) until the loo dash! 🤣 🤗🤗🤗🤗xxxx

CecilyParsley profile image
CecilyParsley in reply to Spotty-ewe

Hells bells it has been sheer madness here. I have a Piper alarm and never wear it unless Neil goes out as I have been known to fall through the shower cubicle, head butt the loo and drag the hand basin over. They rang to say as I had not used it for a while, could I test it. Well the damned thing started making a racket, like a high pitched white noise. Both dogs were barking. Neil pulled the wire out of the back to try and stop it. That caused the alarm to call and re call the service. They were yelling down the phone Julia are you ok? Do you need help? Next thing my carer is at the door, are you ok? Now even with the telephone unplugged every two minutes we are getting a “warning there is no mains power”. It is going to be a long night 🤬 xxx

Spotty-ewe profile image
Spotty-ewe in reply to CecilyParsley

Oh no, what a nightmare! It must have a major fault! My Mum had one and when tested, or she inadvertently triggered it, they just made sure she was okay and that was end of story until next time. I hope you get it sorted soon. 🙏🏻 There must be a better way of having an exhausting night! 🤣 The best of luck with it Cecily. You’ll need to rest up tomorrow after all that excitement. Take care. Thinking of you. 🤗😘

Neil’s blood pressure was through the roof lol I have had it for six years and this is the first time that it has done this. Hopefully the engineer will come tomorrow xxx

Oh I hope so Cecily. 🙏🏻 Neil needs a nice cuppa and one of Horsewhisper’s Rich tie biscuits! I hope you all sleep well. 🙏🏻🤗😘xx

He had a few cups of Glengette and three of my sultana cookies that I made yesterday. He is snoring happily now 😴🫖☕️🍪 xxx

Spotty-ewe profile image
Spotty-ewe in reply to CecilyParsley

😂👍🏻 I hope you both managed to sleep well, and Dylan and Brodie too. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that the engineer will be with you early and get the problem sorted out. 🤞 I’m off to do a class called ‘Young at Heart’ for old dears. It is fun and done to 60s & 70s music. Right up my street. Hoping you have a much better day than yesterday. 🙏🏻 Love and hugs. 🤗😘xx

CecilyParsley in reply to Spotty-ewe

I took ages to get to sleep..waiting for the next announcement 🥱 but Social Services contacted us and they are coming to replace the entire unit. Phew. Enjoy your class. I used to love my gentle exercise class but the instructors had awful taste in music. One day a replacement stood in and it was amazing, disco divas. The class was over so quickly and I had sung and jiggled my way through it. Much love to you xxx

Spotty-ewe profile image
Spotty-ewe in reply to CecilyParsley

That was no fun taking ages to get to sleep.🥴 A nice afternoon nap is in order I think. 😴The class was good thanks Cecily. It was all ABBA last week but hits of the 70s this week. As you say the class passes quickly and we must do something right because most of us are glowing with perspiration by the end of it.🥵 Our instructress, Jackie, is a retired nurse and recently turned 60 but looks more like 40ish! Very fit but very aware of the problems and limitations of older ladies, so it is brilliant. I hope it isn’t long until the engineer arrives to replace the unit 🙏🏻 if he hasn’t been already. Love to the 4 of you. Xxxx 🤗🤗🤗🤗

CecilyParsley in reply to Spotty-ewe

Yes we have a new unit, a quarter of the size of the last one and it is working well. I am so pleased you enjoyed your class I used to love the giggles I had. Hopefully I will return when my leg is a little stronger. I am completely wiped out today so I am doing nothing. Have a lovely weekend xxx

Spotty-ewe profile image
Spotty-ewe in reply to CecilyParsley

I’m so pleased your new unit has been fitted and a better size too. 👍🏻👍🏻 Yes, the social side of the class is a lot of fun which keeps us going every week. With sheltering for so long I have a stone’s worth of Covid curves to get rid of and many of us are the same. 😂🤣 I hope your leg doesn’t take long to get stronger Cecily so you can return to your class too. 🙏🏻 Thanks for your kind wishes and I hope you, Neil and the boys have alovely weekend too. 🤗😘xxxx

Some people are so witty. It just makes you want to go there and have a cuppa. X

Spotty-ewe profile image
Spotty-ewe in reply to Bowenlady

I know, I would never think of something so funny or apt. Some folk are so clever and imaginative. But if it makes you want to go there for a cuppa, it has done its job. Do you fancy meeting up there for a cuppa and a blether? Let me know when. 😂 Take care. Xx

Oh if only I could. It’s about a 5-6 hour journey from me. Beautiful there though. My Best friend is from Workington and we visited and stayed at her parents a few years ago. Absolutely stunning scenery. Freezing cold though all the time we were there. She lives just outside London now. Sadly the last time I went there was for her dads funeral. Even the cemetery where he was buried was in a beautiful open location with amazing floral decorations on the graves. I took a beautiful photo of the sun setting on the way to Workington, in Cumbria. I know that people are getting to know that I am rubbish with IT but will try to attach the photo. I kept it because it was so beautiful. X

Beautiful image of orange yellow sunset sky agains very dark surrounding countryside.

Spotty-ewe in reply to Bowenlady

That is a gorgeous photo Bowen, and precious memories of your time in the area. That will be a massive difference for your friend to be living just outside London now. I bet she misses Cumbria. I’m near Dumfries and many parts of our region is stunning wild scenery too. You’ll just have to come up our way via Cumbria for a holiday with your friend some time. Thanks so much for sharing the beautiful photo. 🤗😘x

Yes, it is a clever sign, and it did make us smile. I look forward to hearing from you Misty whenever you have time and news. In the meantime I hope you enjoy a lovely day like we are having - blue skies and wall to wall sunshine. I’ve indoor jobs to do to keep out of the sun but it is lovely to have all the windows and doors open. Take care. 🤗😘xx

I'm glad spotty you've got the same beautiful weather as us. It is wonderful having lots of fresh air around the house. Helps us sleep. Thanks for your lovely message. I will be in touch tomorrow when I've got news. Don't work too hard. Take care with the sun. 🌞Xx

Spotty-ewe in reply to misty14

I’ve swopped our duvet for summer weight at long last! 👍🏻 Also been busy repotting some indoor plants and had to throw out a couple that had a scaly aphid which even after 3 treatments over the last few months were still hanging around. ☹️ I then had to clean all the sticky areas around where they’d been standing and washing whatever I could. Wretched nuisance these things.Good luck for tomorrow Misty. 🤗😘xx

Hard work, spotty do hope your successful. We changed duvets in may and decided to buy new at a lower tog to cover both seasons. Cuts down on that exhausting job we said!. Harder for you to do as your weather more extreme than ours. Do hope you have a relaxing evening after all your hard work. Xx🌞❤🌞

😂😂 Very clever HW. The perfect biccy to have with a cuppa at that establishment. 🤣🤣 But I’d really prefer one of your creations, as I’m sure Kat would too. 😂🤣 It is a glorious day here, so I hope you are having the same. 🤞 Take care HW 🤗😘xx

Thanks Spotty I’ve just put an update on the forum still no results , consultant didn’t ring me 😫 this did make me smile , I love a huge mug of tea, got to be Earl grey for me . Well done on your walk , that’s fab 🥰

Spotty-ewe profile image
Spotty-ewe in reply to svfarmer

I’m sorry you haven’t had the results yet. That is so unfair when every day must feel like an eternity when you are anxiously waiting. I hope it is soon SV and I’m praying it is good news. 🙏🏻 So pleased the sign made you smile. I love Earl Grey too and Empress Grey which M&S sell. 😋 I over-dosed on my Prednisolone, which I was taking for a flare when I did the walk, so got around Derwentwater with no trouble at all much to my amazement and that of my friend Jessie who is 9 years younger than me! It was that night I discovered I’d taken double dose earlier so the steroids got me round! 😂🤣 I’m going to look at your update now. 🤗😘x

Love that sign! Don’t suppose this is the place to say I’m not to keen on tea 😲 I don’t tolerate caffeine too well and the caffeine free doesn’t have quite the same taste. I do drink some herbal teas though! My drink of choice is water or sugar free Sprite / 7up. ☕️ 🫖 🍪 🥤

Spotty-ewe profile image
Spotty-ewe in reply to GloomyEeyore

Have you tried Rooibos or Redbush tea? It is caffeine free and has a lovely flavour. Most people take it without milk but I enjoy it with or without. A lovely rich colour too. I love it. I find herbal teas a bit too acidic for me if I have them on a regular basis, but there are some lovely flavours out there. 👍🏻

GloomyEeyore profile image
GloomyEeyore in reply to Spotty-ewe

No, I haven’t tried those teas. Never took milk in tea when I did drink it. Will have to give them a try. Don’t drink herbal tea that often and if I do it’s usually peppermint. Do have a Clippers sleep easy tea around two hours before bed. Helps me relax and get to sleep easier. Xx 🛌

Spotty-ewe profile image
Spotty-ewe in reply to GloomyEeyore

I make a pot of camomile and rooibos combined before bedtime and hubby and I drink it while watching TV. It is very relaxing and tastes good too. 😋 Your Clippers sleep easy tea sounds nice too. I like Clippers teas, so I’ll look out for that one. 👍🏻👍🏻 Take care GE. 🤗😘x
