Lupus affects people so differently that it would be difficult to advise to either fast or not to fast. From personal experience I was able to fast quite easily for a few years. It didn't feel any different to fasting before lupus. However, I now have renal issues due to the lupus and the nephrologist has advised me not to fast as it would lead to hospitalisation. I give money to charity instead as stipulated in Islam for those who are unable to fast.
Hii, yeah I agree it affects people differently and depends on the severity. Yes giving charity is given if people cannot fast. Thanks for sharing your experience
Hi, I don't know much about fasting and lupus, but I have read that fasting can help with regenerating the immune system. I have thought about trying it myself. I have Muslim friends in Pakistan, who I have stayed with, and understand Ramadan. As I have Sjorgens, as part of my diagnosis I would find not drinking in the day particularly hard. Maybe you have to give it a go and perhaps adapt to your needs. At least then you would know you have tried. I hope this helps. 😊
Hi, yes I have heard that fasting can be can be good for you. I think I may try it for a few days and see how feel. Thanks for replying and sharing your thoughts
