I can’t believe what I just saw

I had to share this because I cannot believe what just happened on my street.

A flatbed truck and a van pulled up and out comes four workmen, they were wandering up and down the street looking at all the houses, got to number 10 and went into the garden, out comes the woman and they start measuring up for what looks like a new wall and then looking at the paths. She is directing them on all she wants done and not one of the was 2 meters apart. Meanwhile the other workmen are out the van and hanging in the truck window chatting.

It beggars belief, she has two young boys under six and she used to be a teacher. Her husband doesn’t work because he is ill but he has been out and about in his car more now than before the lockdown started.

It’s hard to understand how some minds work.

It might dawn on them when one of their relatives gets really sick... I think this is going to be a huge problem in the states...sadly. ml

I really DON'T care what happens to them - but they don't end up ill, it's others they put at risk. And then my daughters and their friends/colleagues - all NHS. I feel guilty but I am rather relieved the paramedic one at least is not allowed to work by her line manager as she is vulnerable. The thought of possibly losing either is bad enough - but both doesn't bear thinking about.

The thought of possibly losing our love ones & our children is unbearable..

Yes, folks just don't get the impact they make in spreading this virus& putting the people in front line services at such high risk.

Further enforcement I am afraid...

The entitlement makes me angry - "you can't stop me doing ..." But they want money from the government. Out of MY taxes ...

I live in rural scotland and we get a lot of migrant workers picking and planting fruit. there is no distancing whatsoever, they get on a crowded bus provided by the farmer and work in groups of 50ish in the polytunnels then once a week they are taken on the same bus in to town where they shop together as a big group. should one of them get the virus they will all get it and they would spread it around town. as most do not speak any english it may be that they don't know what is going on but surely the farmer should be responsible for his workers.

Sounds to me that the farmer is exploiting people.

Yes I too live in Scotland and very much common practice where I live. Beggars belief. 🙄

😂😂

Wow! I hope they’ll be ok, and even more, I hope they don’t spread anything to those obeying these new rules.

There’s a saying going around here in the US:

“You can’t fix stupid.

And, apparently, you can’t quarantine it either.”

I like that one. They fit the bill perfectly. Stay safe. X

My advice is to not worry about what others are doing, because it will drive you bonkers! Mind your social distancing, mind your cleaning EVERYTHING that comes into the house from somewhere else, and make these sustainable habits that will last well into the future. Our idiot Government officials have known for decades this was coming. Literally hundreds of novels have been written about this very scenario, yet the United States was caught completely flat-footed. If this had been a manufactured or genetically altered organism to waylay or disable a specific group of folks, we woujld really be in trouble! Is that possible? I taught CBR (Chemical, Biological, Radialogical Warefare) in the Army. CBR has been used since the middle ages to disable entire villages and/or groups of people! We need for our Government officials to WAKE UP and do what their constituents want instead of what serves their personal best interests through lobbying (legalized bribery of Government officals).

Hi, froggie70. My hubby is a bricklayer and hasn't worked since the lockdown. Yesterday he got a phone call from a man saying as he was self isolating he was bored at home and decided to knock down a wall and could my hubby go round and build him a new one. Won’t tell you hubby’s response too many expletives.

Hello

Well if that man was bored it looks like he’ll have plenty to keep him occupied now 😉.

Stay safe 🤗

I live in a small Cul-de-sac, but at the entrance you have a block of flats that look like a mansion... and an arch which leads into us. I know flats, especially for children can be a nightmare but we have to all pull together. I have 2 gardens (I know I’m lucky) but I don’t go out, my carer lives next door. Now, a family from the cul-de-sac and a family from the front , let the children run all over they place...while there mums are sunbathing in front of the block in their swim wear. My worry is, apart from myself, theres another 2 families that have a someone disabled... tell me please, is that fine?? I don’t, even for the families that are well, they are putting them at risk as well as their own. Is it me worrying to much ??????

Take care, keep safe

Hello Teanna

I’m finding it very hard to understand how people can behave so selfishly especially now we are seeing these heartbreaking stories on the news of families who have lost loved ones and couldn’t even be by their side. And poor doctors, nurses and carers who are shattered and risking their own lives.

As long as you stay safe and take care of yourself we just need to hope it eventually sinks in and these people start to do the right thing.

Either that or you could order a super soaker water gun and disrupt their sunbathing 😉💦💧💦.

in reply to Teanna

Are they trespassing on your property? Even without Covid19, that’s not kosher, but now with, that’s doubly wrong.

Hi, my doorway is at the side, but the kids use it as an hide and seek. But just before the rules was to stay in, my OT arranged to have a gate put at outside as it was not just been used by the children, one morning I was due to go to hospital and their where needles, plus a lot of condoms (used), sorry people. It’s never happened before but due to having a month in hospital and it was hot weather, they thought no one lived here. Then they tried to break in (2 days after being let home). Luckily that was all cleared, they had put a new door up, a light which would come on if anyone came near or buy. I had security come round, but they were caught in the afternoon. So that gate was made as a special, (I have to get in and out in a wheelchair). Sorry if I’ve gone on, but people just don’t care....

Kind regards

Keep safe

A lot of us do care. Unfortunately those that don’t make a huge impact.

I wish I could, but they would think it’s funny.... They have no feelings for others. I was watching the News, Professor Marcel Levi is in charge of the virus at UCLH. I could believe it, I only saw him a couple of months ago and he has changed completely, he looked tired, etc... So either people don’t want to know what’s going on or they think that it won’t affect them, and they forget about people around them and people they have lost.

Keep Safe

My mum said a lorry pulled up at her neighbours this week. They’ve put scaffolding up at the front of his house. I asked how they managed to put up scaffolding and comply with social distancing and she said well they didn’t. When they arrived her neighbour came out and had a long chat with them on the pavement, all close together, as if not a care in the world. The same neighbour had visitors for Mother’s Day, their son and his friend from London. When we were told not to visit our mum’s. Unfortunately, my mums neighbours will probably be fine, but they might pass it to someone else who isn’t.

The police have had to put road blocks in place here, stopping every car. People still arriving for day trips by the seaside or to stay in their second holiday homes. Keeping the police very busy. This weekend the police and council are checking every caravan and camp site.

Why do people have to make it so difficult and risk so much????

Hi Wendy, it’s unbelievable isn’t it. I can’t even begin to think why they might act the way they do. Even if they want to be a wee rebel they can’t be so stupid as to not realise the risk they put themselves and everyone else at.

Take care 🤗

Hi Wendy, Yes there are people that don’t care or they think that they will not get it, but an ambulance has just pulled up in our cul-de-sac( at the end block), they come out of the ambulance all in protective suits etc. It’s down the end we’re the mother and her children was let loose, not only was they out yesterday but at least 3 days last week, or it could be the disabled man. Now we will have to use our back gardens, because they have no gardens at the end. It’s a funny layout, but there only have 9 apartments. Because I’m a very high risk it’s scary. I’ve not been out since last August, and they have got me on the right medication after all this time, i now can go out. But people just don’t not care.....

Keep safe .....

Hi, wendy 39. I live in a very popular seaside town,. This week should have been the start of our summer season. As i haven’t been near the promenade i don’t know how busy it is, i am hoping the police stopped people on the motorway and turned them round. 2 idiots from here thought it was ok to drive to london to pick up a car. Don’t understand why people aren’t listening. My question is would you rather be bored for a few weeks or dead, you can stop yourself being bored, you can’t come back from the dead. I really don’t know what the answer is. Stay safe and healthy

Hi.. It is so sad to see the poor families that can’t even pay their respects. They started to face time them before they pass, but I don’t know if I would like to see it or remember them as they were.., and the majority of people that don’t listen is the ones that don’t care. I could not believe it last week when they decided to go to the beach, what are they thinking about????..... Yes it’s a lonely when your on your own, but if everyone kept to the rules this virus would have been lifted by now..

Keep safe,
