Hydroxychloroquine
It can affect eyesight. It's one of the known side effects.
Yes it can cause side effects but it may not be the hydroxychloroquine, it can be a symptom of lupus and other autoimmune conditions
It seems to have effected my eyes. I wear glasses or contact lenses, and could no longer wear my lenses. So dry and gritty. Went through two pairs of lenses thinking it was the lenses and cleaned them loads, still an issue. My eyes, were/are still a irritated with glasses on. Over a week of perservering, I phone optician and they said they wanted to see me thta da. She mentioned dry eye and that the dye stuck to the top of my eye, where it felt worse for me - not technical terms, I know, but I'm no optician. She presecribed lenses that a new material and a toric lens, more expensive, but so worth it. Was also advised to not wear lenses for a week to let my eyes recover, which ofcourse I did Due to go back with the trial, but due to the situation, they have given me another months trial in the hope that the situation has improved then.
I have stopped taking the hydroxy, and have no rheumatologist to discuss this with, so am without meds or any treatments- and I am newly diagnosed (Oct 2019), disease is active and have permanent leukpenia and neutropenia. NHS Wales for you!
