Sun protective clothing - problem with odour

I am new at this forum and I don´t know if my question belongs here but I really need help. Now I am housebound due to sun sensitivity and am actually restricted to the one room in the house without a window. I am looking for clothes with sun protection. I have already bought some online but couldn´t tolerate the smell of the clothing (due to MCS). Is this a problem with clothes with sun protection? Could someone direct me to clothes without strong smell?

Solbari is a great Australian brand. Their fabrics are soft and have no chemicals. Careful of the UV protective umbrellas — let them off-gas in the sun because using them.

I really understand what you experience. Two summers ago I thought I was going to have to move out of the country for hottest months due to heat sensitivity. It is so depressing to be unable to leave your house.

Are you familiar with Vog masks? Those helped me too. Had to use mine just the other day when a woman came into the coffee bar drowning in perfume.

Hope this helps.

Hello KayHimm! Thank you so much for your answer and recommendation. I took your advice and bought clothes and umbrella from Solbari. Someone is airing them for me and she tells me that she can´t smell anything. Before I posted the question and got your answer, I had already bought clothes from another website (Sunsibility) and am told that there is considerable odour of the fabric.

Now I have the clothes and there is no smell! Thank you very much for pointing out Solbari to me. I also like the style and am happy to know where to find nice clothing in the future.

Terrific! Glad you are happy with Solbari. I wear their knit tops almost every day when walking around the city.

Hello my name is Angeli Jackson and I started SunSibility back in 1999 whilst studying product development for the fashion industries.

My final project was working with Ladies who suffered from sun sensitivity through Lupus and designing a range of practical and fashionable clothing that they would want to wear I was and am still absolutely passionate about this.

Over the past two decades I have worked closely with Lupus UK and its members and twenty years on offer a wide range of UPF50+ Clothing and Accessories for all the family.

We do not bulk manufacture and everything is individually made to order for each client in-house.

We import our fabric from Italy so with the transport and manufacturing we like to ensure we finish the garment carefully so we do tend to spray the items with a febreeze, wash or use a ironing water on completion.

We have a few customers that do request this is not done, maybe in a similar response to your emails above and of course we are more than happy to do this, please do let us know at point of order.

It is important that our clients are happy and we aim to do everything we can to ensure this is the case.

We hope you find something within our range but are always open to ideas and suggestions.

If anyone should need anything at all please do get in touch.

Sincere Best Wishes,

Angeli Jackson

Hi, Hope you are gaving a good day. Have you tried bamboo clothing? It is anti bacterial, uv protective and super soft. I have items from bambooclothing.co.uk, especially their socks and tops. I have a very heightened sense of smell and have not noticed any difference to normal clothing. Also they are breathable and ultra comfortable. With my very best regards, Lily
