PCOS and autoimmune?

First a apology my last post I didn’t reply to your lovely comments I haven’t been too well and had a scan which I’ve now been told I have PCOS 👌

Anyone know the connection between autoimmune and PCOS ? I’m a little upset although I can’t really admit it to anyone as I’ve always said I don’t want anymore children as I have three and I’m lucky ☺️ but it’s just another kick in the teeth I feel as if over night my whole entire body has completely changed trying to stay positive as possible

How are you all?

Thanks in advance jade xxx

Pcos is very common , more than 1 in 10 women are affected but is often found to have a high likelihood of occuring with autoimmune hypothyroid disease. This diagnosis can explain many of yours symptoms for fatigue, headache, brain fog and pain occur in PCOS as well. Look at it like the first rung in the ladder to the top of treatments to help relieve your systemic symptoms. I hope treatments for your PCOS will help you to feel more like your self.

Yes. It’s highly involved with the endocrine system so you have to watch your thyroid and pancreas.

Thanks I will do I’m seeing doc de Cruz on the 16th of next month for further tests and he is a doctor that thinks outside the box so his input will be interesting xx

I also have PCOS, and endometriosis unfortunately. My rheumatologist said that PCOS (and other gynaecological conditions) are strongly linked to lupus - consequently our hormones can really impact us with flares. Sorry I really can’t remember the full explanation he gave me, but there is definitely a strong link between PCOS and other auto immune conditions. X

Thanks for your reply I really appreciate it. It dose make sense although I don’t have a lupus diagnosis yet looking towards mctd but I’m seeing doc de Cruz on the 16th of next month so hoping this will help towards a actual diagnosis every cloud and all that xxx

Buckley — do you mean undifferentiated connective tissue disease? Mixed connective tissue disease is when you have two connective tissue diseases — like lupus and scleroderma.

What’s ref difference xx

Not sure xxx

Big difference. Undifferentiated connective tissue is when there are few symptoms and someone does not meet classification for any one autoimmune disease. Mixed connective tissue disease is when someone meets the classification for two diseases and usually has characteristic auto-antibodies.

Well I’m not to sure yet as I have to have more tests but I think they where more on the uctd because I didn’t meet the criteria for one but had lots of things going on xxx
