Pip mandatory reconsideration request

Hi everyone,

I thought I’d get the CAB to help me with this Pip mandatory reconsideration request, but they couldn’t. I’m confused. Should I just send a simple letter to DWP saying please reconsider your decision, or a full letter going through the whole Atos blurb and explaining my whole condition and what the assessor/ adjudicator got wrong? The CAB seem to be saying the latter fuller letter was for the tribunal. He also suggested that everyone has to go to appeal and no one get a pip increase via the mandatory reconsideration process. Also, should I get my Gp to do me a letter to send with this or is that for tribunal? Also my MP’s office said they would support me. Is that for the reconsideration or tribunal? I would appreciate your help.

Lily please do not even attempt to do this by yourself. Please seek out Fightback4Justice (Facebook presence), and are outstanding at what they do, or Benefits and Work (online forum). For personal and rapid access FB4J would be my preference.

Thank you. The cab called me this morning and have given me an appt. thanks for the suggestion. I shall keep this org in mind.

You can try and see if your local council has a money advice service. They can help with pip claims and advice x

Hi im in the process of mandatory request and awaiting a decision. Thankfully my local CAB are helping me. You need as much evidence as possible along with a letter stating to why you disagree and which category eg, planning a journey.

Family support letters too, Drs letter, and specialist reports.

I have found the process absolutely draining which makes my condition worse. The CAB also told me that they rarely change their decision and expect to go to tribunal

Dyesect every paragraph the assessor has wrote. Mine has contradicted herself and hopefully we have pointed this out. I couldnt have done this without a supportive family but the Assessor was totally wrong.

Hi, I had the same problem and opted for mandatory reconsideration. I penned a letter by my own hand which my husband said would either land me in jail or get the assessor sacked because basically all my letter did was slate the assessor, every mistake she had made in my eyes was listed in that letter, I was very on forgiving about her. Within two weeks of posting it I had a reply telling me they had reversed the decision and what's more my money had trebled and they backdated it from the day they had stopped it. Always worth a go, you never know. Good luck hope you get a good outcome.
