Any advice for changing medication

I'm having a few months on hydroxychloroquine and nothing else to see where I'm at. I'm at a stage where I'm used to my legs hurting when I walk and all my other joints and muscles aching most of the time. I've just come off of methotrexate as it wasn't doing anything. At least I don't seem to be getting worse. Makes me laugh when my 83 year old mother tells me to 'take it easy' !

I was keen to ask anyone about me stopping the hydroxychloroquine too. Before I started it 5 years ago I was walking around like a 90 year old so I know I'm better than that now but I wonder if I would have been better by myself? Has anyone tried to stop all of the drugs? I was going to discuss this with the rheumatologist but she was running late and I felt a bit rushed and ended up forgetting most of the things I had planned to ask.

She did say she'll see me when my new blood tests, x-ray and scan results are through but I'm not holding my breath as she said see you in 4 months last time and I didn't see her for 13 months.

Anyway if anyone has any ideas about trying drug free? Or if anyone thinks that's not a good idea? I'd like to hear

Thanks x

Hi K8KENT,

I am glad to hear that you wanted to discuss this with your rheumatologist rather than just stopping the medication without any medical advice. Although, you were not able to discuss the matter with your rheumatologist during your appointment, are you able to discuss it over the telephone with him/her? Your rheumatologist can provide you with the correct advice - it is important that you do not stop medication unless advised to by your doctor.

If you wanted to discuss this in person at an earlier date, perhaps ring the rheumatologist's secretary for any appointment cancellations which you can fill.
