just got my results back.

hg gone up but platelets gone down.

Is it better to have high haemoglobin and low platelets or low hg and high platelets?

I don't like those choices. Can I have another?

(this may be a slogan for all of us!)

I don't have the knowledge to answer your question properly, especially in the context of APS (which you have?). but in general, your individual history will probably be more important than a general answer. For example, the exact numbers you have will going to matter, and it will make a difference whether you are on a rising or a falling trend.

Sorry I can't be more informative, x

Sorry, APS = Anti-Phospholipid-Syndrome. The same as Hughes' Syndrome, cololoquially known as "sticky blood". I think you've posted about that quite recently? The main thing to ask is whatever is on your mind - sounds obvious, but sometimes it's easy to dismiss questions that we think are too silly or basic to trouble the doctor about. The trouble is that leaves us worrying....otherwise, I guess I would be asking what the doctor thinks about your progress so far and what else might be done to help things along? x

I get brain fog everytime I go to docs. I'm trying to write everything down now while i'm relatively clear headed. my docs just refer to sticky blood so I have to get a more medical confirmation from one of them as to what it is. can't fill in a PIP form and say sticky blood. I've been putting lots of things off because it is so hard getting an appointment with my GP, 2 months sometimes. And then I just live with things that probably should be I my notes but aren't

If you are doiong a PIP form, can you tell them that and ask for a summary letter of your diagnoses that you can refer to? x

i'm not doing a PIP form yet but I haven't had a review for a few years and some things have changed, surgery new diagnosis's. I've been expecting one for about a year and I need to be prepared as they usually turn up when I'm having a flare and I can't think straight to fill them in. can't get help in my area as always told by CAB they are too busy. I got a summary letter from renal consultant but he missed half of my things off the list. hoping to get get my notes from GP at least.

Whatever happened to good doctors' practice of 'no surprises' when communicating ? Hopefully you'll get to see your GP soon to discuss the results...

As whisperit says, it's all comparative....have you the last results to see how big the platelets drop is?

My mum's platelets dropped due to a medication, so she had another med to keep that under control.

Sorry, not very helpful, but not doubt you'll have a compassionate, caring, understanding doc by your side soon to decipher it all 😏😣😚 xxx

actually the doc I have the appointment with is probably the best in the practice, he is always fully booked because everyone wants him. I have permanently low WBC and red just got water in my veins. but it's only a 10 minute appointment and I need at least half an hour. wanted to figure out my test results before hand to speed things up

just keep talking when GP stands up, I had a half an hour last time that way...plus he didn't want to let me go without knowing what the letter in my hand was 🤣🤣🤣 xxx
