Worried.
My daughter just had a spot show on her upper neck. She said it was a pimple. Now it looks like a pink spot with a darker pink ring around it. Its small. She is 17. I have been watching both my girls because of my health issues. I thought because I was low end, maybe they would be lucky and not get anything.
I am upset. Trying to stay calm.

I know exactly where you are coming from as a mum!
I have 3 children. 13, 12 & 9.
The 13 year old had eczema as a baby and now suffers with hay fever - like I did as a child. My youngest gets dry skin issues, last year UTI recurring & needing antibiotics for 9 months and started getting styes in her eyes. So I get very concerned about them going the same way as me. Every time one of them complains of an ache or pain, I try to reassure them it's growing pains - but inside I panic it's more than that. My 9 year old asked me in the car last week, "what happens if I get lupus? Does it go in families?" Arghhh. It's tough.
So, for your daughter. Take some photos of her skin issue. Monitor it. Get a GP to take a look. And make a record of it somewhere. Does she have any other health issues? Do you know what caused it? Without seeing it, it's hard to say.
But I do understand your concerns. I'm sure lots of us here do.
How was your daughter's 16th birthday celebrations? And how are you doing?

Thank you Wendy. She does have intestinal issues, joint pain, joints popping out. Like you, I say its nothing . Just a pimple. Which is what she called it. And inside, I am concerned. It hasnt gone away, so I will probably need it looked at. I was wonderng if I could just put cortaid on it, or bacitracin to help it heal.
My daughters sweet 16 was great. I, of course, was exhausted by the end of it. Her bday night was dinner with grandparents. Next night was dinner by the water with her friends. Saturday was "Wicked" in the city, which was awesome! Sunday was brunch with my cousin and sisters. It was fantastic! Thank you for asking.

Please try and stay calm although I know how upset you must feel.
I watch my two youngest like a hawk, the oldest seems to be ok and never gets unwell but the younger ones have weird things going on. 5 year old takes too long for his blood to clot but has no antiphospholipids antibodies, and it’s not haemophilia. No answer for that apart from it’s out of range and my youngest who had just turned 3, she was hospitalised at new year with the whole of the back of her throat ulcerated and then a few months later diagnosed with alopecia areata. It’s her that worries me but they won’t test her 😞.
At least we know what to look out for and we know how to fight when we feel it’s not right, we actually have the upper hand in this instance.
Make sure you document and photograph everything and please try not to worry, it may just be something little.

Thank you. I was so unwell with both pregnancies. I thought it was just because i was in my late 30s.
They see how I am doing alright with my health issues, and i try to come across with the attitude not to worry. We can handle this.
This daughter is going to England and France with the school art club this winter break. My husband and I encourage enjoying life everyday.
Hard not to worry about our daughters..I have 4. I am 62 and newly DX'd..my daughters are 29 34 40 and 44.....one my 34 year old gets rashes...before I was DX'd I said" looks like you have lupus"...now of course because I know I have it, ...well I don't know.... xx
Leslie..they hate when i say looks like lupus. So, i just say, oh you must be run down. Or, an infection, it will heal. I just tell them it might be a good idea to go off dairy and gluten someday. When they are ready.
It certainly helps me. Though i breakdown sometimes. I had an ice cream cone this weekend, and have been itching for days.
The past 2 weeks I have been limping because of terrible pain on the top of my foot. Natural pain relieving gel works for a bit. I have to reapply often. Ugh.
I have the one with the joint problems on fish oil and probiotics and digestive enzymes because of her intestinal issues, and the other one with exhaustion and liver trouble on milk thistle.
It will have to do for now. Till it gets more serious.
Right now my kidney disease went from stage 3 back down to stage 1, borderlIne 2.
I try to not get scared, but lately have been having fearfulness terriblly in the evenings. Feel like I am going to die. Its awful. I dont know how to calm down other than go sit on the couch with my heating pad. My liver is a mess too. Ugh!

understand your anxiety...sometimes before I fall asleep I am feeling so strange that I think I am going to die right now!! I don't...I have been doing that long enough to say..I'll be fine....and this went on before just recently being DXd with Lupus..I am not sure yet how..how what?? My Rheumy said discoid Lupus...yet I get joint pain and of course horrible rashes from sun and stress.... As for my daughters....I am keeping an eye on them...even though they are adults..I do believe there may be some auto immune going on with 3 out of 4...we just all thought feeling crummy was normal...maybe they will soon test their ANA..... Your daughters art trip sounds amazing xo
I wish I could go with her, but I think My personality annoys her. Lol. Someday i hope to start traveling. So much to see. I am going to my nieces wedding in October in North Carolina. Excited, and happy to get away for a bit from my problems and worries.

Funny, we may be moving to MA after our daughter graduates from high school. She is a junior.
The biggest situation that is striking me on this UK group,is the time these patients have to wait to be seen by a doctor...I feel very fortunate to be able to get good treatment quickly..Congratulations on your daughters upcoming graduation next year!!..And your possible move to MA...great Drs here .

Yes, in fact I am going to another Rheum Dr, and Derma Dr, (they work as a team which I think is great) at Mass General in Boston later this month.... My Rheum Dr on the Cape is good...and maybe I will stay with her...but getting second opinion is also good..
