Blood Tests

Hi, I'm currently waiting on a formal diagnosis, but rheumy suspects Lupus or early RA, previous blood tests said I was seronegative.

I'm going to be having more bloods done, including ANA, currently taking hydrochloroquine and naproxen.

I'm thinking to come off the naproxen until after the tests to help give a more true reading?

Anyone else think or been told to do this in preparation?

Yes it is a good idea to stop all pain meds, especially anti-inflammatorles for several days prior to blood tests being done.

Ok, I've only been on the hydrochloroquine for a month so no major benefits from that as yet and was going to keep taking it, but notice the difference within 24hrs of not taking the naproxen...think there will be tough days ahead?!

I was the same when I was previously misdiagnosed with RA. Was determined to get clarity from blood test results though so I would always stop Naproxen and always flare up with very high inflammation markers to prove it. Can't tolerate any pain meds now though so I'm lucky to have a very high pain threshold!

Good luck for your blood results, hope they bring clarity to your diagnosis. It's a tough time!. You might be diagnosed with UCTD which is undifferentiated connective tissue disease. It encompasses symptoms of both lupus and RA as well as others because your body can't make up its mind which to be!. Keep us posted how you get on and good luck. X
