"Borrow My Dog" - Update

Some of you may remember I joined this site. Blue had his first " blind date" this evening. They are already great friends, and he's going to have outings I can't give him. His new friend is thrilled at getting to borrow him. 🌈

Seems like everyone is happy with the arrangement.

Long may it continue.

Wish I could afford this as I need it but living hand to mouth

I'm sorry times are hard jacclaire. A dog-walker would cost too much for me, but for this I don't pay my borrowers - they do it because they want to, and can't have a dog themselves at the moment. Most need to do evenings and weekends because they work. I did ( for myself) take out an insurance in case of accidents, which works out less than a pound a week, making it much more affordable than using a dog-walker. Again, for me, if Blue and his borrower become very firm friends, she can take him overnight if I need it.

He has a couple more "dates" lined up.

This sounds like such a great idea, lucky Blue! 😁

I wish I had known this existed, I had to give up my beloved Leonberger years ago, but thankfully the breeder took her back and it worked out. I'm so glad to see this service offered, though. A great idea!

To be honest Silvergilt, 18 months ago I was seriously thinking I'd have to take Blue to Dogs Trust. Sons persuaded me not to. I don't know how long the borrowing site has been going, but I'm very happy it is. I just thought to mention it on the forum to see if it could help others.

This sounds wonderful! I think there are a few organisations out there who do this. (The Cinnamon Trust do this for the elderly and terminally ill for example.) There is this charity too although I've not heard of this one before: papas.org.uk/

My son's gf is involved with Cinnamon Twist - which is how I got the info from son about "Borrow My Dog" . I've told so many people about "Borrow" who now want to do some borrowing I'm amazed
