I have both Lupus and R.A. Maybe your doctor needs to study up on Lupus and overlapping immune diseases.

Yes I was also diagnosed with lupus and RA. I've read a lot and it is quite common.

I've been diagnosed with both, in the end it is a "lupus like" is the best I Can get from them. After extensive reading, no two people who have "lupus" have exactly the same symptoms so it's incredibly difficult to distinguish. Hope this helps xx

Hi Sabrina

Did you mean impossible to take both drugs humira and methotrexate or impossible having lupus and RA?. It's certainly not impossible having both conditions!. X

And the two drugs are administered together because Humira enhances methotrexate, so looks like he's wrong on both counts!

Hi Sabrina_25 ,

About one-third of people who have SLE will have an additional systemic autoimmune disease. Rheumatoid arthritis is one of the possible overlap conditions. If someone who has SLE also develops rheumatoid arthritis, some physicians call this overlap syndrome "rhupus". Was it your GP who thought these couldn't overlap or your consultant?

It was my consultant

If you are concerned about the care you receive from your current consultant, you could ask your GP to refer you for a second opinion. It may be best to ask for a referral to someone with a specialist interest in lupus. If you let me know what area you are in I can provide you with information about any lupus specialists we know nearby.

Hi Sabrina_25 ,

I'm afraid as a UK charity we only know lupus specialists in this country, so I cannot provide any information about anyone in Qatar.
