Methotrexate

I'm starting on 10mg on Sunday night (as I have a dressage competition on Sunday afternoon I'm worried about side effects.) Just wondering how others have got on with it. Nurse has warned me about sickness etc and I have Folic Acid to take Monday night.

I used to inject MTX but had to stop as it didnt suit me at all.

I used to inject mine on a thursday night.I would feel fine on friday but by friday night I would begin to feel sick and achy.Saturday all day was a complete write off for me and sometimes Sunday too .I would hardly be able to get out of bed on Saturday.The sickness was non stop.I used to take my jab on a monday but found I couldn't cope with the side effects when I was working so thats why I swapped it to a thursday so my sick day was at a weekend and didnt interfere with my work.

I took folic acid every day except the thursday.

My side effects may have been extreme and not everyone reacts like this .I have seen posts on here saying how well some people have got on with MTX and how well it suits them.

Everyone reacts differently to meds so I think the only way you will,know if it agrees with you is to try it for yourself.

I think if you take to this medication it is very effective so lets hope all goes well for you.

Oh poor you that really doesn't sound good. The nurse did say I could try the injections if I don't get on with the tablets.

I'm dreading taking it, I just hope I get on ok with it.

I hope you have found something to replace it that you get on with. X

I have been taken off all meds for RA now and just on steroids.

Have been granted funding for a new biologic drug but can't start taking it yet until the infection and open wound on my leg has healed so I am hoping it wont be long.
