Sores in nose

I also have a tooth infection and sores that are in my nose then I put triple antibiotic on them they go away for 3 to 4 days then returns so my ? Is can you get sores in your nose from a top tooth infection?

Sores in the nose are common. I strongly doubt those have anything to do with your tooth infection though. Important to get the tooth infection under control so please see a dentist pronto!

Yes, I have developed a severe persistent nasal passage infection due to a failed upper molar root canal causing osteomyelitis in my upper jawbone and spreading infection into the associated sinus which broke out as a bleeding lesion in the associated nasal passage. This all developed gradually over 20 years...and was ignored by all my medics from dentists, to gps to consultants. This was during the decades before my infant onset lupus diagnosis was recovered.

So infections in patients like us can be complex & persistent patter....when they recur the way yous are, I'd see a gp:

-Get a swab taken of the nasal passage sore for lab ID of the bacteria involved

-discuss the possibility that your dental issue may be affecting the associated sinus

I'm told my case is very unusual, but we're all unusual here 😉

I don't know about the tooth connection but you can definitely get sores in your nose from Lupus.

I agree with Clare: Too true! Yes, I have been managing our characteristic nasal passage & nostril lesions & infections all my life, mainly with prescription antibiotic topicals (bactroban, and now naseptin) . Others manage with OTCs like vaseline, but this can't sort my lesions out, sadly, because mine always get infected no matter how effectively daily lupus meds are damping down my autoinflammation

So when the dreadful osteomyelitis bone infection spread from my infected tooth into the jaw bone, through the sinus and broke out in my nasal passage, I thought it was just another typical lupus lesion...but I had a swab test kit at home to use and popped the sample in for testing via my gp surgery. I was mega surprised when the result came back +++ staph infection...this started the ball rolling, resulting in the osteomyelitis investigation, diagnosis and 5 months on daily high dose oral antibiotics hoping to save that side of my upper jaw being excavated by my v attentive NHS maxillo facial surgeon.

If I've learned anything from my lifetime of complex recurring multisystem infections + my 2 years (still ongoing) being investigated by immunology, it's to always take infection samples for processing by the lab as soon as poss...and never underestimate the significance of persistent infections: the NHS has a duty of care to look harder at these in order to ID the underlying cause/s....sadly, many gps can be slackers 😉 (E.g. My gp surgery seems to have several...)

immunology investigations eventually discovered my lupus-related nasal passage lesions usually become infected due to my early onset Primary Immunodeficiency (deficiency of immunoglobulins G,A,M, predateing treatment with immunosuppressives). this is why patients like me need topical prescription antibiotics like bactroban & naseptin....and why my tooth root infection was able to spread into my jawbone & nasal passage. I have never had MRSA & don't have it now

I am sure dental problems can cause all sorts of sores and infections. I have suffered for years with root filling and crown problems. Had them out now and hope when I recover from the extractions, I will be a lot better.

Bactroban and naseptin are the treatment for MRSA infections not lupus that manifest in the nasal cavity. I hope they are being honest with how you got that! If you have any lesion or anything that has lasted longer than you think it should have. You need to see your GP or rheumatologist. Just a note to be mindful not all ailments we get, during a remission or flare up stage of lupus, is not always connected or caused by lupus.

An old fashioned remedy for tooth infections Orajel is effective for all sorts in a lot of cases, if you want to try get the extra strength...as usual be careful and trust your own judgement

Always getting sores I'm my nose, I just use the prescribed cream to clear it but they always return. Hope the tooth infection clears.
