Operation after effects.

Hi, can anyone help?

I had my first hip replacement in October, and I have been having what I would describe as after effects. I lost a lot of blood and became anemic , so I am now on iron tablets.so that would explain the tiredness. Both my legs swelled especially my ankles and feet they were so tight and very painful. The swelling has now reduced, but my skin is flakey and very dry and sensitive, painful to touch. My ankles are tight and uncomfortable. (Both legs) My left hand has developed Carple tunnel (although that may be just a coincidence, or developed due to using crutches, as I have arthritis in my thumb joint.) I have my other hip replacement due and I am concerned due to the problems the first operation seems to have caused. Could the second opp cause even more swelling and sensitive skin? And is this sensitivity likely to pass? if anyone can help please let me know.

Many thanks Sandy

Thank you for your reply.

I am not walking too much, as my other hip has severe arthritis and I am looking after my Mum who has terminal cancer, which means I don't get out much. I have been with mum since 6 weeks after my opp, we had a Christmas all together, and I returned home for 3 nights to re charge my batteries and go to my GPs. I am not wearing stockings as I had blood thinning meds from the hospital. But I do have them due to bad circulation. (Although I cant get them on and off by myself) so I am feeling rather jaded, which doesn't help when things flare up. Sorry to go on a bit, but I am feeling concerned as to why my skin has become so thin and flaky. My GP had given me a thick cream to use, and blood tests have been taken, so I shall see if anything comes back from them.

Once again thank you for your reply, and wishing you a very happy 2017.
