Turmeric is working wonders for me! Having got the go ahead from my doctor.

reluctantstaffie profile image

Hi, I'm new here.

Having got the go ahead from my doctor, I started taking turmeric (size 00 capsuals), 3 capsuals,3 times daily and noticed a marked improvement to some of my most troublesome symptoms within a week of starting. My fatuge, joint pain, mobility, depression and motivation have all improved, which has made life for me now bearable. I was so impressed, I had to share this amazing revalation. Who knew? The good old curry is good for you!

One thing to make note of is that turmeric should be taken with a pinch of fresh ground black pepper (this increases its absorption into the blood by 2000%). Also heating the turmeric and pepper with coconut or linseed oil seems to increase the benefits of this amazing spice.

Taking turmeric in capsual form will solve this for you

Hi! I take one capsule a day. How do you take yours? Sounds very time consuming??? Expensive?

I have bought some ready prepared turmeric and oil/pepper paste combi called 'golden paste', not started taking it yet but read some very good reviews.Relatively cheap and convenient, try googling GOLDEN PASTE, supposedly better than capsules for the body to absorb and you can very easily adjust the dose to suit your symptoms. On a course of antibiotics at the mo but intend to start after that's finished.

Hi, I take mine in capsual form and sometimes as the paste in meals. Please see my reply to vonnyrad for my making methods and costs. If you make them yourself, it really isn't expensive and is very quick and easy. I hope this helps.

Hi all, I started buying my turmeric ready made, costing me £25 a month. This was not financially viable for me so I started making my own:

● manual capsule maker, (makes 24 in one go, takes 2-3 mins per batch) instructions included - from internet, £25

● 1000 capsules size 00 - from internet, £10 (this amount lasts me 4 months)

● 1kg turmeric powder (organic is best) - from internet, £6

I also make my own golden paste, which can be stored in the fridge or freezer. I use an ice cube tray as it makes the amount used easy to control and I'm not worried about the frozen paste loosing it's goodness. Making the paste is very easy, quick and cheap:

● 1/2 cup of turmeric powder

● 1 cup water

● 1/3 cup coconut or lindseed oil (I use coconut oil bought from lidl)

● 2 teaspoon FRESH ground pepper (added at end of heating)

● put turmeric, water and oil in a pan and heat gently for 7 - 10 mins stirring constantly, add pepper at the end and mix in well. Store in fridge for up to 2 weeks or freeze if storing for longer (ice cube tray is ideal for this) .

This heated method seems to give better results, but putting it in every meal tends to make the diet taste a bit samey! My dog suffers with a skin condition, so I give it to her too, she loves it and her skin is totally cleared up! So turmeric is good for us humans and pets alike!

Hope this helps answer your questions, if you have any more questions, I'm very happy to try and answer them for you xx

My pleasure, I felt I needed to share the love! Good luck and please let me know how you get on.

Ps. You should see the benefits within 2 weeks of starting, but please tell your doctor before you start.

Xxx

Can I just pop in and advise caution with using Tumeric if you are on blood thinning medications.

Anticoagulants and anti-platelet drugs such as warfarin and aspirin etc. interact with turmeric. Since these medications slow blood clotting and turmeric does the same, taking these medications with turmeric can cause bleeding and bruising. Also advise caution with anyone with known stomach ulcers, tumeric can aggravate these.

As with all supplements, please do your research, I am not against supplements at all, they have their place, but with Lupus being such a complex disease to treat, and our medications with harsh side effects, I would always advise speaking with your medical team before taking any supplements.

I totally agree lupuskaren, which is why I advise to speak to your doctor before starting tumeric. It's also wise to do your own research also, so you can weigh up if this is an avenue you want to explore further.

Brilliant! I wrote about this a few weeks back as my sister who studied Ayurvedic meds told me to take it. I took it for my Sjogrens cough and a side effect is that my joint pain has eased immensely. I keep mine in the fridge for a week. I love it over cornflakes! There are so many natural remedies out there to ease our symptoms. Olbas oil rubbed on joints eases the pain. Broncho Stop eases coughing - only herbs in both these remedies. Good luck

I need to increase my dosage I think..i take 750mg....how much are you taking daily for these great results...I am only taking it once a day in capsule...I have severe pain in one foot from plantar fasciitis....

Happy to hear turmeric is working for you. I recently started taking supplements this week. I have not noticed improvement. Do you recommend I take powder instead of capsules?

Thanks!
