Hi All;

Dad is back in the hospital and has been for a week his oxygen level dropped way low. The level is starting to come back up, but, they have loaded him up with steroids through an IV. When the steroid I have gotten out of his system, the oxygen level may drop again?

I have another blister starting on my foot. It is starting to get larger, just like the one last spring did.? Wait and see? I have been putting the cream and salve that my dermatologist gave me to put on these blisters on my foot. So again just when I think I might be able to wear something on my feet now that winter is here, (still not that cold here in the state of Alabama in the U.S.A.) it's not gonna happen. I have been going and doing my normal stuff, going and staying at the hospital, shopping, restaurants, etc. and yep, still doing it barefoot. I have about decided I will never get to wear nor, will I have to buy any more shoes?

As those of you who know me, and those of us who have lupus. We know Lupus has changed our lives, but, my motto is................

πŸ‘£I WILL NOT LET LUPUS CONTROL MY LIFEπŸ‘£

My wish, hope, & Prayer is that all of you have a BLESSED AND

Good to see you still keep your spirits up despite all the awful things going on around you.

Hoping your dad will improve and if hes at hospital it will hopefully prove to be the best place for him and let's hope he can make a recovery snd get home to spend Xmas with the family.

I also hope your bluster doesn't pay up and younareable to get shoes on those little pinkies - the weather is getting too cold now fog gem tofu free for much longer.

Crusee;

Thank you! I don't know how much long Dad will hold out. He gets a little weaker each day?

The blister is slowly growing. The last time the doctor had to drain it because, it got so large.

It is not real cold here yet, but we do have some mid 20's for a couple of days in the forecast? As of now shoes are not an option.

Wishing you and your family a

πŸŽ„MERRY CHRISTMASπŸŽ„

Thank you for your good wishes Tiras.

I understand exactly where you are coming from with regards your dad,I went thru the same thing with my mum.No matter how much you expect this when it happens it is still a shock to you.My thoughts are with you and your family.

It doesn't seem appropriate to say Merry Xmas in the circumstances but I shall and I wish you all the good things for you and yours and special memories for you and your dad for this Xmas.

If draining the blister gives some relief then get it done you don't need any extra pain and stress going on right now.Make things easy on yourself Tiras.

I wish you all the best Xmas you can have.

Take care.

Hi Tiras,

Sorry to hear that you have another blister, would slipper socks be a possibility? I was thinking. Of the sort with a leather bottom and soft loose Knitted top.

I hope that your dad improves, my dad is also poorly at present with a chest infection, but antibiotics should do the trick. We are hoping that he will be well enough to go to a carol concert tomorrow which he has been looking forward to.

I love your motto, it's simular to mine.

Lupus will never define me.

Happy Christmas Tiras

Creaky;

I have tried slippers, the skin is so fragile that the rub raw places and they start bleeding.

Thanks for thinking of Dad and our family, we are hoping for one more Christmas?

I like your motto also!

Nan;

Thank you so much, for thing of our family this time of year and what we have going on.

I don't let lupus stop me from doing what I have to do, and what I want to do! Even tho I have to go barefoot, and have Had to go barefoot for the last 2 years. I still do anything. I fish, shop, go to restaurants, yes even hospital, & I cut firewood barefoot. I have gotten use to it now, & being barefoot is natural. I don't even want to wear shoes now. I can walk on any type surface, rocks, sticks, cement, asphalt, (yes, even hot asphalt in the summer & I can just walk normal speed). The soles of my feet have gotten that tough and the skin is very thick.

Has lupus and it's issues stop me from doing what I need to do and want to do? ABSOLUTEY NOT!

Wishing you and your family A

My own peculiar Christmas wishes ! X

(I know this isn't a cure)

(And I am thinking in Australian summer terms).

But hoping you can find a lovely swamp with refreshing cool mud to plunge those feet into. And I'm about to additionally horrify everybody at this site, by also wishing you an accidental Christmas leach.

When I was 15 - some (what I considered then as 'old rural people' - ie: younger than I am now) 'with Lupus' swore by them. I accidentally picked one up not so long ago. I had to admit I felt really really really great afterwards ?

I think the thing must have injected a 'happy toxin' I was temporarily full of beans !

Superior blood thinning ?

Anyway.....Merry Christmas

: )

Freckle;

I am from the southeastern part of the U.S.A. And, believe it or not I remember my grandparents talk about the same things! They did not use medications, they used nature to heal them selves. Unfortunately leaches are had to find here now. And creek mud and river mud does feel good on our feet! Again not many swamps left here either, now with the flood control.

You are correct maybe we should go back to the old ways of healing. Roots and herbs may do more for us than the medication we take?

I can tell you this, other than the lupus issues on my feet. I have had no problems with my feet since I have been going barefoot. I have had no ingrown nails, no fungus, no sweaty feet to grow bacteria. And as a plus, going barefoot matches everything you wear, and I have not had to spend money to buy shoes.

I live out in the country (rual area) I have 40 acres and the closest store is 5 miles away. So barefoot for me is not an issue. Today I do have to make 75 mile drive into Birmingham Alabama to the doctor. I do have some barefoot sandals I wear to the city, but they don't rub my feet and it looks like I do have sandals on. I actually make my own out of leather. For $2.98 I can make 4 pair! The down side is, it is winter here but, doesn't get really cold for very long. The mornings are cool but, day time warms up enough feet don't get cold.

Than you for you thoughts, and no they are not odd at all! You have given me some ideals to do some research to see what I can come up with! See if I can find some of the old ways to heal!

Wishing you and your family A
