I am wondering if anyone with Lupus has experienced having a feeling in the lower throat upper chest area that feels like a spasm or jerking sensation that can cause you to catch your breath or cough. I have had this type of thing more than once, it seems to not last long when it happens.

Yes my husband newly diagnosed with Lupus Def gets this. They have previously said it could be a corkscrew oesophagus or hernia. Makes me wonder now. Its almost like he stops breathing when it happens. Very scarey.
Thank your for your reply, I hope that he has received help with this, has he had a endoscopy or any tests to check it, I had an endoscopy last February and the doctor didn't find anything unusual in the esophagus. I wonder if it has to do with the autoimmune issue. I hope you have a nice weekend.
Hi, yes he has had endoscopy and does take some medication that supposed to relax the throat but he still gets the same symptoms, the poor love and poor u too! I have read that taking an ice cold drink can shock the oesophagus into opening again. it's a horrible thing to watch him going through this and makes him reluctant to eat anywhere else but home.
