As I have said before, lupus has changed my life but, I will not let it control my life!

As you know I have to go barefoot because of lupus, but I still do what I have to do.

We heat our house with firewood. So, I have to cut and spit it. Yes I have to do it barefoot. Here is a photo while cutting and splitting firewood barefoot!

My motto;

πŸ‘£I WILL NOT LET LUPUS CONTROL MY LIFEπŸ‘£

Blimey Tiras that looks like a very risky task.

Apart from the risk of splinters just watch where your swinging that axe.

Here's to good aim!!!!!

Good on you for not letting it beat you.

Hope all,OK with your parents.

Take care.

Crusee;

It is not as dangerous as it seems. I use a chainsaw and not an ax. I do pay attention to the relation to where the saw is and my feet but, with a chainsaw that should be done even with shoes on.

As for splinters the bottom of my feet are now so tough, that is not an issue.

Yes gotta keep going can't let lupus stop me, yes, it slows me down a lot. We heat our house with wood, however, it has not been cold enough to have a fire yet this fall. We are still up near 80 degrees Fahrenheit for day time highs! (Still good temps to go barefoot LOL)

Mom & Dad are about the same slowly going down hill!

Firstly Stop,showing off about that heat - it's absolutely freezing here today in Wales.Have been out to Drs surgery this morning and got back to house and now snuggled up,in blanket with hot water bottle and hot drink.

I have to admit I Prefer being barefoot.I don't wear any footwear in the house but have to,when I Go,out as the dr has warned me about it.I Am diabetic so I have to take good care of my feet.What do you do in winter if you don't mind me asking? You must obviously have some sort of covering to protect your feet from the cold if nothing else.

You mentioned chainsaw- that's even worse. I can't think about that one any more Tiras I will just have to trust your judgement with that one but be careful. I'm sure you know what you're doing-- lol

Take care ,stay well,and best wishes to your parents.

Crusee;

I'm not showing off about the weather I'm complaining. (LOL)!

We also have had no rain here in 50 days! It is extremely dry here. Beginning to get worried!

The winters here as you can see by our temps now. Are Not really an issue for going barefoot here. If by chance it is extremely cold I will just stay inside. (Extremely cold here is below 30 degrees Fahrenheit).

Brilliant Tiras, I have a simular view, lupus will never define me!

Every time I achieve something that is difficult for me, or that I've been told I can't do, it's one in the eye for lupus!

I guess the soles of your feet are quite hard now, does walking on rough ground hurt?

Helen;

Yes, we must keep going even if it is at a slower pace now, or by whatever means necessary. ( even barefoot)!

The bottom of my feet are so tough now that it does not bother me. I can walk on any type surface. I can walk in rocks, sticks, concrete, even hot asphalt, non of them are an issue now. Even thorns do not stick in my feet now, unless it get a spot that does not touch the ground often, like the upper part of the arch, and that doesn't happen very often. Believe it or not, it is like my feet get tougher each day. I've said this before but, I have had to go barefoot for so long now. I don't want to wear shoes now, barefoot is and feels more natural.

Creaky your reply to tiras is encouraging. Up until this yr i havent really had any limitations but now i realize i have 2 b vigilent about sunblock and bug repellent. Ystrdy i discovered im allergic to chlorinated pools, ive been workg really hard at swimming the past few wks to do this mini triathlon and i had to pull out b/c my body is riddled with rashes from being in the pool almost everyday. I am a runner but swimming was startg 2 b my 2nd passion. I felt really good about it b/c it is a grt way to keep in shape and less wear n tear on the body than running. Ive been home sulking all dy, ate a pint of choc brownie fudge icecream for comfort. I need 2 move past this, not a gud place 2 b. Been tellg myself it cud b worse so b thankful. But ive been all in my head 2dy. Im single, my fam lives out of state and all i wish is that i had sumone 2 hold me and tell me evrythg will b alrite. So i welcum any advice or suggestions u can give to get bk on track mentally. I always say "my lupus" when im talking health 2 ppl but thats claiming it isnt it?! Wuts the alternative lingo?

Hi Norma;

I have lupus rashes and blisters on my right foot. The skin is so thin on top that shoes will rub it raw in just a few minutes. My right foot has been this way for a little over 2 years. My doctors and my dermatologist have told me and even written a letter stating for me not to wear shoes. They all say my chances of getting an infection is greater if I wear shoes.

So with that being said I have been barefoot for over 2 years. As I have stated before, going barefoot is now natural. I don't want to wear shoes now.

πŸ‘£I WILL NOT LET LUPUS CONTROL MY LIFEπŸ‘£

Tiras keep on keeping on!...you said something that alarmed me...is the thin skin on your feet related to lupus? Ystrdy i scratched a bug bite thats on the top of my left foot (no harder than any utha scratch ive done from bug bites) and 2 my surprise the skin came off! It was pretty deep too. So i was jus wondering if my skin is possibly gettg more sensitve from the lupus or was i jus scratching that hard and didnt realize it.

Yes the thin and sensitive skin is lupus related.

Hello Tiras, Thank you for inspiring me especially when I needed it!! Be careful of the mighty axe, also chain saw & bare toes! Sometimes it is hard to believe how people manage when there are no choices! You are very brave & daily live your life by your very own Motto. Hope things are a little better with your parents. Very Best Wishes, Pixiewixie
