Hi all,

I have had a rash for about 7 months now, started on my forearms and then went widespread with it being on abdomenand legs. Each time i go to the GP i get told its a non specific rash and get prescribed a different lotion (which does bugger all to get rid of it!)

I also have tiredness, aches and joint pain and muscle spasms as well as cognitive symptoms like forgetfulness, lack of concentration, brain fog, finding words difficult etc..

I was diagnosed last month with CFS/ME although i am not sure whether its right or not.

My latest blood test for ESR came up borderline (13mm/h) so slightly higher than the range and requires retesting in a month or so.

Has anyone got any advice or similar experiences? Could this be Lupus?

Hi CatScarborough85 ,

Do you know if your GP has done any blood tests for lupus, such as an ANA test? Based on your varied symptoms I think it would be best to get a referral to a rheumatologist so that you can be investigated for lupus and/or other autoimmune conditions.

If you would like more information about lupus and how it is diagnosed, we have a free pack which you can request or download from our website at lupusuk.org.uk/request-info...

Hi

Thank you.

I have had lots of blood tests but i dont believe he has tested for Lupus.

I asked to be referred to rheumatology a couple of months ago but he laughed and said that it would be thrown back at him! .. i just dont know what to do anymore. I keep going back and forth to the GP and i feel like its all in my head..

Hi CatScarborough85 , if you are not getting anywhere with your current GP and feel that are not taking your concerns seriously, then it is probably best to change to a different one. You can find more information about changing GP here - citizensadvice.org.uk/healt...

Hi Cat Scarborough 85

I've had the same problem for months and months. Like you I was back and forth to the Doctor prescribed the usual creams but no change at all. The rash was on my arms, stomach, thighs. I eventually asked to see a Dermatologist at hospital. Got an appointment she looked at rash and diagnosed Neurodermatitis. I was given a prescription for Dermovate steroid cream and Gentle Wash (soap substitute) and diprobase. I still have the rash just now but it's not as bad as before, it has completely gone from my arms but seems to be taking longer on my legs and stomach.

I was diagnosed with SLE and APS many years ago, I am photosensitive and have many other symptoms attributed to these illnesses.

Ask to be referred to see a Dermatologist and get a biopsy done to help obtain a diagnosis.

I hope you get the help you deserve, it can take forever to get a correct diagnosis but don't be fobbed off.

Good Luck
