I am not sure what is going on but, this blister started last Saturday. It has gotten larger each day. I have already seen the dermatologist and they went behind and beside and went under and injected under it with medication ( I assume a Steroid).
It has quadruple in size I will have to go back to the doctor Monday if it does not improve.
The bright side of this is, my cousin is coming up from south Alabam (about a 4 hour drive). Her husban is a doctor so I'll get his opinion.
He and I are going fishing tomorrow. Then fish fry on Saturday night. (If we don't catch any fish I already have some in the freezer just in case).

I have had a rash/blister that has been on my right foot for 2 years that comes and goes, and because of this I have not been able to wear shoes. I have been barefoot for 2 years. Actually now going barefoot feels more natural. Yes, I go everywhere and do everything barefoot. Fortunately I live in the southeastern part of the U.S. We have long summers here and very mild winters, so, going barefoot year round is not an issue.

I just made a new post about this. I went to the dermatologist yesterday (gottago back today for a recheck).

Last Christmas Day it was in the 80's (degrees Fahrenheit) here. Usually no frost until late November. We have not had any snow here in 5 or 6 years. When we do it only last for a day then it's gone.
Ouch that looks nasty Tiras 😞 . I really hope it goes down soon without any further problems and you can enjoy your fishing trip and your family this weekend , The fishing sounds very relaxing🙂

My cousin the doctor did look at it, and as long as it is clear it is not infected, and it does not get burst, it is still sterile under the skin. However if it continues to enlarge, I will need to see my dermatologist. Looks like I may be going to see dermatologist tomorrow at the current rate!
wow, i have one right now, had it for a couple days now, It did burst last night. Dr. felt around, its in my calf, he feels more under the skin. I am in rehab for a severe MS attack and now the lupus is doing ts thing. Whats next? I have APS and Becets too....These thngs scare the heck out of me.
I hope you do ok. I do hope that after bursting you don't have any issues. I wish you the best on your other health issues also. I do know how you feel.
Mine blister has been on my foot for a week, it has not burst and it is still getting larger.
Am SO GLAD you're riding this awful blister with your wonderful "can do & will do" good spirits. You're being proactive re staying close with your doctors on this, meanwhile making the most of life...YOU INSPIRE ME ‼️

Thank you, but the blister is continuing to get larger. My cousin the doctor did look at it. He said that the fluid is still clear so it is not infected. And as long as it does not burst it is ok however, he did tell me I need to go back to my dermatologist. I guess that is what I will be doing tomorrow.

Wow that's looks weird, it definitely a blister is it, I had something similar on the side of my foot but it was hard, is it spongy when you touch it, as if it's filled with pus. Be careful Tiras not to knock it when you are out on the boat, saying that enjoy fishing as I know you will and knowing you, you will forget about it and enjoy yourself.
Thank You, yes it is definitely a blister it has water under the skin like a blister. It just keeps getting larger daily. I will have to go back to my dermatologist tomorrow.

This looks like bullous SLE. It usually appears on skin that was exposed to sun - usually neck or face or arms but as you walk barefoot, it is conceivable that's what caused this. Get it checked as soon as you can, it's not good to have your skin blistering (basically the upper layer coming off), it can spread. Steroids don't work for this, there's a specific drug, dapsone, that's been successful and also methotrexate.
I'm not sure what it is exactly? I have not been in the sun any more than usual, and use tons of sunscreen when I am. I have already been to my dermatologist once this past week. They used a needle went under it in 2 places and injected medication. As you can see that did work. I am planning on going back to the dermatologist tomorrow.
My cousin was up for a visit this week end, her husband is a doctor. He looked at it and said as long as the fluid is clear in the blister there is no infection. However he did say that I need to let the dermatologist see it as soon as possible.
I already take methotrexate and have been taking it for 3 plus years.
I have never had a blister to spread like this, but, this is lupus so nothing is unusual.

Purpletop has replied thinking the same way I've been thinking since you first posts re this particular blister. I too have bullous problems. I'd been imagining your medics had been talking to you about bullous aspects of lupus....have they?

I went to the dermatologist today, she uses a scalpel to open and drain the blister. Gave me a topical antibiotic and a soke, to be done 3 times a day.
Now for a long healing process, because as we know we who have lupus everything take 2 to 3 times longer to heal.
They have a compression bandage on it now, I go back tomorrow morning to remove the bandage and for a follow up. If all is well bandage will not have to go back on. I will have to soke it in a solution 2 or 3 times a day. Then apply the antibiotic cream.
Wow what we have to go through. I know there are others with different medical issues than us who go through a lot more than we do.
