I have just been awarded a PIP Payment does anyone know if this affects my employment i.e am I classed as disabled or does it restrict what i can do at work. My personal problem is walking distance after knee surgery and getting infected so it's pain related rather than kneeling working at a bench climbing a ladder which I am still able to do. Basically I limp and have a lot of pain but can still do most things in a small area, any info would be appreciated.

Hi NIGELMOORING ,
Your PIP shouldn't affect your employment, but you should be protected by the Equality Act 2010 if you have a disability. Are your employers aware of your lupus? Have they made any adjustments to help you manage better in your role?
We have a couple of booklets about lupus and employment which may be of interest to you. You can view and download them at lupusuk.org.uk/working-with...
If you need physical copies of the booklets, just send me a private message or email paul@lupusuk.org.uk with your name and address.
