I do not even know what i'm drawing until I'm done..LOL BRAIN FOG IS SO REAL. I completely just leave my mind for that hour or so.Think about nothing and just sketch/paint take pictures. But this sketch came out a little powerful and weak.I see lightning and a tornado and a women walking out of the sun and into the a storm .Not by choice, tho she's determined to face it and walk thru.As pained as we are we must walk thru this storm" flare up " .Strong and weak..

I like your interpretation of the drawing. It's hard for me to think that you don't know what you're drawing the whole time you're drawing it. If I'm drawing, I would know. So your concept is foreign to me. You must surprise yourself often after a drawing is completed! This one is a very real concept that happens all the time to people like us. Very fitting putting it here.

Everything I do is foreign to me now.I'm usually a very punctual and I dont even know,I think clearly usually.. But lately I cannot concentrate so i literally wonder off while I draw. The tornado came from the clouds as I darkened them I made changes to her face little by little and at the end had this.I think art is the only thing you can do mindlessly because there is no wrong outcome.

I agree there is no wrong outcome in art. But I can't draw without an awareness of normal distance of the eyes from the nose and mouth and width of each from the other and so forth. If you just place these things randomly as your mind wanders you will have a jumbled up "face" of sorts...something other types of art do recognize but not like what you've produced at all. I suppose once you know these things you can let yourself "go" and you'll automatically produce what your mind has trained itself to do. I simply have never done it. I've always been intentional. My time always seems too short to be otherwise.

My Father taught me how to draw faces as my first thing I learned. Its second nature to me like the corners of someone's lips always match the pupils in the eyes.Distance from tops of head to bottom of eye should be about the same as lower eyelash line  from chin.Ears are always..I guess the more to draw the most you just follow your own rules these were just how I was taught,I draw portraits like I can look at a person and draw them. But this is different free style.I 1 time ended up making a dice and then it turned into a wicked joker lol..I dont know I guess its hard to explain.I have been drawing for a very long time so for me it lets me leave  I draw to leave mine.

No one taught me all of that. Some I learned much later in life. I learned by looking and drawing what I saw...really saw by observing. The hard way...the slow way. I haven't made time for drawing in a long time. I'm interested in so many other things...photography has my interest right now...painting has held it for years. Shaping my world through gardening and other decorating of my home with art has kept me busy. And I never have much time for my interests...never enough.

Hi Juliettesmombles!

I have been struggling to draw a face in the last few days and your post came in very handy! My determined  autoimmune system drove me to do something constructive rather than mope about, and the face I have been drawing is a cross between a woman and some hairy prehistoric man!! Your Father would have given up on me!

I hope you keep well and enjoy your art.     ;O)

My father does best with landscapes as I got older I tried to school him a bit ,lol it did not work out.He shades in too much of a face and it ends up looking too harsh too much detail. But with a lake and sky and logs floating onto a shore /beach detail and extra shading works well.

I used to do that. Mine were abstract things . I called it my doodle diary. I'd just forget everything and sit and draw, not knowing what the outcome would be. But it stopped me from feeling peculiar if I didn't have to think about anything. I thought I was losing my mind at the time. These weird feeling gradually  disapeared over time.

Tho my Dad taught me the basics when he sees my drawings and painting now he says"wow you did that?In disbelief because I started out as a little kid with crayons to him lol.I painted my daughter's dresser restored it and painted butterflies flowers plants and it looks very nice.Everyone wanted to buy it from me lol and I kept saying no its for my daughter, I was pregnant at the time with her.All my friends and sister in law ended up pregnant at the same time with me and 4 out of 7 had girls too.

I cannot help but doodle faces on random bits of paper or margins of newspapers.  My mother used to call them my Paper Friends.  I went to a life drawing evening class many years ago and absolutely loved it, but haven't drawn seriously for years.  You are re-inspiring me and, as you say, it's a brilliant way to cope with the dreaded brain fog!  Thanks for your brilliant way of interpreting  the lupus ghastlies! X

Thank you I'm glad you admire my drawing not too many people see it.My Mom noticed a girl and that was all,she missed the tornado and lightening lol.I would really love to paint of a canvas or take a ceramic class.Somehintg that i can disstract myslef from everyhting .Even for an hour to just check out.
