Pain after esi
hello jm. hope the pain is as bearable as poss this morning.
What are you meaning by esi?
Am feeling as if i can relate to your post: maybe a bit of my story can be useful:
the worst years of my spine problems started in the 1980s when i was in my 20s. My spine problems were due to both a serious childhood accident + spondylosis + hypermobility. by the 1990s things were bad enough so the NHS neuro surgery wanted to give me a major spine operation (double discectomy). but i avoided that and instead underwent nhs pain clinic diagnostic facet joint injections, which, like yours, only helped for a few days. so the pain consultant gave me more permanent facet joint denervations. i had a series of these denervation ops over 15 years.
all these procedures were done in an operating room. by the time i had finally begun to have this series of denervartions to my cervical, lumbar & sacral spine, my spine pain was so long term and ingrained that it had become chronic. this meant i had to persevere in rehab extra long term and commit to a lot of physio work for many years. but now i can walk again without a cane and i never use a wheel chair. But I do have to be sensible, avoid weight bearing jobs, practice the postural approach of the Alexander technique etc
during the past 4 + years, the nhs has been treating me for what has turned out to be infant onset lupus. my lupus clinic has figured out that my version of sle has been involved in my chronic spine pain all this time. now that i'm on the right lupus meds for me, almost any spine, joint & muscle pain that the wasn't numbed by the denervations has settled down to a much more bearable level. so, even treatment for lupus has helped me reduce my spine pain. But, I'm 62 now and my various chronic health issues mean I'm not frolicking around like a spring lamb...
i'm wishing the same for you and i hope you'll keep us posted
take care🍀
