How long should a referal take?

My Gp has refered to a new hospital, as I was unhappy with the service at my local hospital. I never saw the same consultant twice and they can't keep staff. I should be seen every 6 months but it's more like 12 months.

On the new hospital NHS website, it says a wait for new patients 38 days, my referal was sent mid April.

Depend what consultant ur referral is for, ive waited 6 months to see a rheumatologist that is lupus aware, and previously 3 months for dermatology

My average wait has been about 3 months, but I guess it depends on the hospital

& department. It feels like an age doesn't it!

Interested to hear the experience of others.

Mine was very quick, probably just 3 - 4 weeks from receipt. Appointments at this specialist lupus centre are on time, never cancelled and booked well in advance. My local hosp gives just 2 weeks notice and my 6 weekly appts arrive after 9 months! A joke. Good luck with it all xx
