Every time I go out in bright sunshine, I feel like my eyes are sunburnt inside. Can anyone recommend some good strong sunglasses that may help?
Sunglasses: Every time I go out in bright sunshine... - LUPUS UK
Sunglasses
I wear photolightsensitive varifocals which come into their own at this time of year as they just darken according to the brightness outside. They were very expensive but I got trendy frames and they were worth every penny. I'm very fair skinned and Sjogrens makes my eyes extra sensitive to brightness so I know what you mean about the burning from inside.
Hi. I am photosensitive due to my lupus and have been wearing my big sunglasses for a few weeks now already. I find I can't go outside without them. I buy mine in boots, the chemist. They have a good range, that are labelled clearly and are reasonably priced. My current ones were £20. My sun hat will be coming out soon too. Good luck.
Go to your local optometrist, not a chain. Ask advice, I am sure they could help.
I need prescription glasses and did not want to put a shade over. I my optometrist order the sunglasses. I don't remember whether I used and old frame or got a new one. He keeps adjusting them for me also. I always wear a hat, summer, spring, fall, winter. I do have difficulty finding hats that stay on with brims that will work.
I have been wearing mjy sunglasses now since February, as I am very photosensitive.
Make it a fun/great day out. Find a vintage fair and get a pair of older designer glasses. Ive two pairs of Yves St. Laurent glasses. Feel great in them and they are great. lThey cost me £15.00 a pair and make me feel a million dollars in them.
Having autoimmune is no fun so I try to make the most out of any situation now.
Regards Diane
I think the best you can get is Ray Ban. I worked in opticians (pre Lupus) and that was the ones opticians recommended for people who suffered with light. Only problem is you cannot get these lenses (as far as I'm aware) in prescription form!
Hi all. Yes the world and his wife are out, jubilant that that yellow thing is with us nearly all day now😡. Grrr. I came here the other day about things to wear in the sun. My brother introduced me to Aussie standard wraps etc in Australia. Now they really know what they are talking about. He was in WA cancer centre and sent me some things from the cancer centre there. It may sound daft but I have ordered stuff lots of time. They arrive quite quickly. Whether you can spend to do this I am aware, but they have things that are 100% sun proof. I have a wrap (large sunproof er sheet I suppose) which is about 6' x 4'. I use it in the car to shield me, going out to the car, anytime I will be exposed. It is a godsend. The hat, Fighting, screws up and goes in my pocket, well almost. They have two brim sizes, one which really shields my face and one with a brim that covers your shoulders too. I saw a spectator at Wimbledon wearing that one.
As for specs, Dawsden I use Specsavers. I need distance glasses and always get a prescription sunglasses too with good sides to them, They are so obliging that they will darken them to any amount of tint. I have found that the shades in the brown range are my best bet as the sharpness of the light is cut out. Just to feel my eyes relax is sooo good as I am sure you will agree.
To say about the hat again, the brim has never failed me and I have given it some rough treatment in the 10yrs I have had it. Go online and just see what the Ausies have. They have a really large range including all the cover for kids on the beach. Honestly, I have no shares in the company!
All my things wash like a dream and continue to shield me.
I hope I have given a few ideas and my personal recommendation for the Aus standard of sunproofing.
In the shade like you,
