Hi Nikhil

I think it's very much still at the early stages. The drugs have worked on mice but not been tried on humans yet. There is some way to go but yes from what I read they are using 2 metabolic inhibitors and getting good results. According to the article I read the drugs are already produced at reasonable prices, one being trialled is metformin.

Let's hope it works

I'm not certain it is possible to cure Lupus as it is an umbrella for different things, each indivdual that suffers under the umbrella has different symptoms. Which bit are they hoping to cure? Are they going to rid me of my Angina, my blood disorder, my bone pain, my terrible headaches , severe depression - my list goes on and these are symptoms that i have to live with are daily and not just because of a flare. A flare makes everything worse. If one drug hopes to cure of all our symptoms then wow it will be a mircale. Sorry to be a dousing blanket but i just don't believe it.

Please check this it was discovered in 2013 and it is a vaccine like thing for lupus and it is going to get our autoantibodies production in to base line so we won't get flares and one more thing another cure is also found by mixing of two drugs and it is new discovery found in 2015 in Florida in an medical university and this also does the same thing they experimented on a mice and human blood samples and it worked well

I remember hearing a consultant on MPNs describing this sort of research. His response was once his patients grew a tail and whiskers he would start using whatever treatment his patients had been reading up on.

I know you are having a hard time with your diagnosis. The research is encouraging but in the meantime your doctors will work out the best treatment to help you live with this illness. By all means research COMPLIMENTARY therapies but take good advice on them. Find someone who is reliable and honest rather than someone who wants to exploit your illness and state of mind for the sake of a quick profit.

I have found the Lupus Encyclopedia (Donald E Thomas)very useful. It's written by an expert in the field who give very sage advice about treatments, lifestyle, diet etc. Donald E. Thomas is also on Twitter and Facebook.

Just wondering how long you have been having symptoms. As Shazzer says, is it early days for you, as it can be hard to accept. Any Chronic disease is and I am still doing so myself. Lupus is very complicated and very individual. At this point we need to be managing our disease and learning to accept it so we can take control. I still have problems with stopping myself on a good day. I push it too far and regret it a couple of days later.

Treatment has progressed but it still just controls what is happening with your immune system. I don't think the cure is around the corner, they don't understand it enough and there are too many variables.

So look at what you have, really. Find happiness in what we have. Accept the you will grieve for your past energy etc.

Sorry to rant but the cure will come but it will be a while x

Hi

I was wondering. It is early days for you. Lots of emotions etc. lots of reading and trying to suss out what's going on. They have progressed a long way with treatments and will continue to do so.

I don't have too much problem with the sun and no one has said what my rash on my kneck is so I think its rosacia. Just make sure you stay protected as from what I've read on here people change.

Good luck
