Has anyone else had this cold/virus that has lasted ages?

I had two rituximab infusions in December and since then I have had a cold/fluey virus that will not go!

Can't tell if the rituximab is working as I have felt so awful with this.

I had a viral infection hit my upper respiratory tract. A week off work and a further 5 weeks before all symptoms went. Been really fatigued since. Doc said she was seeing a lot of it and would take weeks to clear! Had headache, earache, dry cough, gurgles in upper chest, sore throat etc. lung function was ok though! Was told if symptoms got worse not better after a week to take antibiotic prescription as a precaution. Luckily they got better but very slowly.

Thank you for your reply.

Reassuring to know that I'm not alone. Will see the doctor in a few days if no better. Really nasty virus. Had the flu jab but feels as bad as flu.

Glad yours has cleared up.

Hi Joanne,

I have had three lots of rituximab and each time I have had flu like symptoms and headaches followed by constant sinus pain and sinus problems....my consultant said she thought it was serum sickness caused by all the immunosuppression but still wants to carry on with further rituximab treatments even though I don't want too! I found that after each treatment it took me at least 4-6 weeks before I started to feel a bit better and by that time my lupus/aps started to kick back in again and I would start with the usual joint pains, fatigue etc

I had two infusions in July felt a bit like I was getting cold/ flu like thing end of August with bones and joint ache and a rash, consultant mentioned serum sickness. After that was ok, and touch wood no colds or much joint pain since, hope you see benefits of Rituximab soon :)

Thank you so much everyone for your replies. Reassured me a lot!

Have the consultant in a few weeks so will mention it to him. Will mention the serum sickness too.

Everyone seems to have had it but I just can't get rid of it.
