Hi Doreen,

I took (and still take) Escitalopram for depression about four years ago. I began taking it whilst attending cognitive behaviour therapy and found after about a week or two I felt in control of my emotions much more.

There is such a stigma about taking antidepressants, so much so I felt bad for taking them. I spoke to my rheumatologist about coming off them and was told that the nature of lupus can make you low for no apparent reason and there is no harm in staying on them. So I have continued to take them and have not looked back.

Hope you feel a positive effect very soon Doreen.

Hi Yols,

day 6 on anti depressant still feeling nauseated hoping this will settle soon,I am on strong anti sickness tabs as I react badly to drugs and need to get this one into my body as last few anti depressants I have had I have been unable to tolerate.

As Kat suggested I have bought ginger to try and settle my stomach.

Is it normal to still have upset stomach after 6 days.

I know everyone is different with their experiences.

I am just so tired all the time.

Thank you for any advice you can give me on this matter.

Doreen .

Hi, sorry for delay in responding, have not checked emails for a few days.

Sorry to hear you are feeling so nauseous, that must be awful on top of everything else. I must admit I had no side effects with these tablets at all - sorry am not able to give you a more helpful reply. Like you say, everyone reacts differently. I dont know about you, but I am on such a cocktail of different medication, I often do get upset tum or unusual reaction to food sometimes.

I do hope your feeling of sickness passes soon and you begin to feel on top of things very soon.

I have been taking it a 6pm I also take a sleeping tablet and i find it very hard to get up in morning.

Thanks.

Hiya, I take mine in the morning. Like you say, maybe try splitting the time you take the tablets, that might make you feel a bit better.

Hi there - I take this drug too and found it very helpful. The iniital symptoms did not last too long and I found that ginger (ginger biscuit, crystalised ginger etc) really helped settle my tummy. Also found taking it at night (with my cup of tea and ginger biscuit!) seemed to work best. I had tried other anti-d drugs but this it the best one I have found. Good luck!
