Range of white blood count is from 3.4 -10.2. Mine is 3.2 , so....it's low.

I'm wondering if there is a treatment or diet can help me to raise white blood level up?

It's very difficult indeed - like living on a knife edge in fact - as part of battling lupus effectively involves suppressing our white blood cells from going on the rampage but see : naturalnews.com/028275_whit...

Eat a healthy diet but avoid supplements that might stimulate an immune response. If eating a healthy diet, supplements are not necessary in any event. Hope that helps!

Hi KimC

A low white cell count can be all part of Lupus either caused by the illness itself or the drugs. Yours needs keeping an eye on. Are you on treatment for Lupus?.Hope it improves soon.X

Hi Misty, my WBC was low about 3 yrs ago and i diagnosed skin lupus a year ago. I'm still looking for any answer to improving and hope to get better with my symptoms...If my WBC higher, would my system get better?? Maybe not, i just wanted to know if there is a way. Yes, doctor order blood test every 3 months, and WBC had been staying the same, i hope it wouldn't get worse Thanks for your reply Misty.

Hi KimC

It's good your having 3 monthly blood tests. Are you on treatment for your skin Lupus?. As I've said can be illness or drugs causing your low white cell count. If it were higher you would be less prone to getting an infection. You could try taking Vit c supplement to help counteract this. As a previous reply has said you mustn't boost your immune system too much as you'll flare your illness. It's a hard juggle! Hope I've helped.X

My WCC hasn't really seen the right side of 2 in around 4 years. I usually hover around the 1.4-1.7 unless I have an infection when it does come up into the normal range. My rheumy and I have tested what could be causing it by playing around with my meds regime and such but it would seem I am just neutropenic and a haematologist I saw told me not to worry that it's quite regular for immunosuppressed people to be neutropenic for various reasons and only to worry if I ever go below 1. So you could be like me. I will say I went in for a course of IVIg recently and I am waiting to see if the WCC will be effected by it. Hopefully yours is changeable but if not it's actually not that bad, I don't pick up many infections but when I do I can mount a response.
