My dosage is gradually is going up and I am now on 1.5mg twice a day (3mg total). I was put on this dose today as my antibodies were raised. Is this an average dose? Just wondering what other folk took.

What dose Mycophenolate is "normal"?
Hi DaleDiva,
Have just started mycophenolate and am on 500mg twice daily, have to increase to 500mg x 3 daily after a month.
With medications it is difficult to compare your dose to other peoples. There are lots of variables ie diagnosis, blood results, co morbidities etc.
Hope your bloods improve soon.
Best wishes
I think 3g per day is the top limit for the medication itself. If you don't respond to this one, they'll probably look at alternative medication. Most lupus sufferers are on a dose between 1g per day and 2 g per day, depending on their version of lupus. But you're suffering with CNS lupus, right? That's probably why the dose is higher, more difficult to get everything though the blood brain barrier. I'm no specialist though.
I am also on 3g total. I have no organ involvement but my dose was increased as I was still having much pain on 2g mycophenolate and not able to wean off 12.5mg or prednisone without flaring up. After a few months on 3g noticing a big difference and antibodies have decreased.
