never had a high cholesterol count before but did this time. Seronegative Hughes, seronegative lupus, bilateral avn. Now on statins....lupus or Hughes the culprit? Waiting results from protein C, protein S and factor V Leiden.

Lupus most likely - lupus for some yet unknown reason raises the likelihood of increased cholesterol and formation of plaque. There are currently clinical trials that give statins to lupus sufferers with normal cholesterol and monitor them for few years to check whether that mechanisms delayed.

Plaquenil helps delay too but not significantly.
