Well, that's job number 1 out of the door. The caring was too much work for too little pay. I start a cleaning job today. I am a little confused though, as I have an employer who is paying me per hour, yet I have to pay my own tax and NI. Is any one else in this situation? I have looked on HMRC but still seem bamboozled by it all.

I had a job on the minimum wage and if you don't earn over the tax threshold then you don't pay tax.ale sure you send in a tax return at the end of the year. Hope this helps
My son works like this all the time (he is a travelling drama teacher). You do have to do a tax return.
Hi,
You'll need to do a tax return, they're very helpful the tax people... Also I'd recommend paying your own NI stamp - it'll go towards your state pension and other health related benefits.

Thanks for your help all of you
