my husband has been diagnosed in Dec last year with lung cancer, he only has one lung because he had a op to remove his left lung when he was 18years old, he is now 64 , so it is non-operable it has spread to his lymph nodes he has been given four cycle of chemo which ends on 22 March, we dont see the doctor again untill 22April, we would like to know if anyone knows if there is any more treatment for no-operable lung cancer that we dont know about because we have seen a difficent doctor every time we go to the hospital, we did not know that my husbandwas only having four cycles of chemo, i just wait to give him the best out there, and have as much time as i can.

Helllo Carol, I'm really sorry to hear about your husband. My dad was diagonosed in Aug 2012 with non-operable aggresive lung cancer. They cannot operate on him as it is too close to his wind pipe. He has had chemotherapy and radiotherapy. He is due to go back to have a scan on Friday 22nd March. His doctor has told us that he may be able to have chemo tablets when it grows again. My understanding is that every cancer is different so they can't really tell you what will happen next, it is just a waiting game. My thoughts are with you and your husband.

Hi Carol,

Donna is right, every case is different and requires to be treated individually.

It is not unusual to recieve 4 cycles of chemotherapy for lung cancer, and to be given a break to recover before further treatment plans are made.

I know it is very frustrating when there is a lack of continuity of care, however, the multidisciplinary team will meet to discuss each patient, and the doctor that you see will have read the treatment plan from the casenotes.

Hi Carol

Sorry to hear about your husband.

My mum has inoperable lung cancer (due to lymph nodes) & radiotherapy would of been to harsh on her other organs due to the size and location of the tumour so after research we found out about tomotherapy its like cyber knife but can treat bigger tumours. Its fairly new & is available on the NHS but not sure of waiting times and locations. We went private and have found the treatment amazing! The tumour has already shrunk and broken up and the lymph nodes are clear thank god! Hope this helps x

It cost about £15,000 i think? at Bupa Cromwell Hospital in London. A consultation is £200 with an amazing doctor X
