Hello everyone,

You may recall I wrote and shared of my pneumonectomy on 4th July 2018. I learnt yesterday that my cancer is back s in nodes in/around my surviving lung. I am awaiting a biopsy and PET scan then I will have more information. My initial view is ‘Game Over’

Our dilemma is : we are booked to fly to Calgary for two weeks from next Thursday. The Consultants view is that two weeks won’t hurt me, if we can get the pain management under control. Anyone got any ideas about insurance. I’m covered for every thing but cancer?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Insurancewith covers cancer patients even in palliative situations so worth getting a quote from them. Canada has a similar healthsystem to ours as far as I understand (i.e. not quite as prohibitive as the USA) but worth trying 'paying too much' comparison website for travel insurance companies who cover all manner of pre-existing conditions. Prices vary dependent on destination as I've found some companies cheaper for Europe and others for different parts of the world following my lobectomy and diagnosis in Jan 2011. Don't give up - understand your feelings about 'game over' but I've met many patients who've survived far longer than initially suggested given the many new treatments and trials. good luck and hope you get your holiday.

So sorry to hear this Colin. Dont give up, you must continue to fight. There are so many new treatments now.

This has come at bad time for your holiday. It will be expensive for insurance. Before my operation last year when i had the lung shadow but they still didnt know what it was. I had a holiday booked to spain and i had to inform them of what i was going through and they put another 600.00 on my insurane... Go for the holiday and if you can afford it, pay it for your peace of mind. I did xxxxxx Thinking of you Colin.x keep in touch

Thanks for you comments. I have today decided and cancelled our trip to Canada and our European trip. Insurance has been an issue along with the pain level. We still await the full scan report part of which we learnt today suggests abnormalities in my left kidney amongst other areas. Still I must be more patient and wait.

Thanks Again

hi Colin57 sorry to hear it has started to come back, I was given terminal diagnosis last Oct, in March this year my scan showed my cancer was dormant, after dying off from my bones and the tumour shrinking in January scan, i put this down to going vegan, can't be sure it was that but wouldn't hurt to try, and believe 100% you'll beat it, never give up Colin and wishing you all the best in your latest fight against cancer. keep active believe and smash it!!!
