Target Therapy for NSCLC stage 3 with EGFR mutation ?

My husband recently had results confirming the re-occurrence of his lung cancer.

As a second line treatment he is being offered a target treatment. His oncologist is trying to get a new treatment funded for him called Dacomitinib.

Is anyone using this new drug, and if so how is it going so far? We have been told that there are quite a few possible side effects. He is due to find out and possibly start treatment this Thursday.

If funding can not be sort then I think Afatinib will be offered, again has anyone got any experience of using this drug etc.

Thank you for your time and trouble in reading my post.

Emma

Hi Emma,

This is a new treatment so very few people prescribed and interestingly I have been speaking to a gentleman this morning who has been using Dacomitiniib since July 2018(for first line treatment). He said side effects"were next to nothing".He had mouth ulcers which disappeared after 3 months and only side effect which is troublesome is a mild rash and itch on his abdomen. He has been using Aveno cream with some effect. His results showed a marked reduction on his tumor size after two months treatment. He is sharing this information with the Scottish Medicines Consortium.Hope this helps. I have sent you a private message.

Kind regards,

All the team at the Roy Castle Helpline
