Anyone with NSCLC and Brain Metastasis

Hi, I haven't posted for a few weeks I think I got so desperate for answers I run out of steam, for those who dont know my story my mum was diagnosed with nsclc on 23rd January this year, on 14th March we were told that the cancer had spread to the lining of her brain (multiple spots with the largest being 14mm on the front left side)

She started chemotherapy (pemetrexed and carboplatin) on 18th March with her 2nd cycle being today, she has a scan on Friday to see how she is responding and I'm absolutely prettified for the results. I've tried so hard to stay positive but how can I be when I know my mum has a terminal illness with only one outcome, I'm only 39 and I dont want to be without my mum, its not fair and I am feeling so angry and frustrated.

Is there anyone out there with a positive story in the UK that has/living with the same as my mum? xx

Hi, I was diagnosed nsclc in 2017 and had a right lobectomy and a few months later they remove a brain met 2 cm big brain surgery and 3 mo later a very small 0.5 mm met was found and did 5 days of radiation all gone now 6 mo later they found 2 cm in my lymph node and I was told I have to do 3 rounds of taxol chemo ygggh it never stops but the beauty is they find it then treat it... one day at a time, please be strong for mom as I lost mine 22nd of November 2018 to lymphoma in the brain she was 86. My mom was very very strong and I’ll fight just like she did. Be there and help get get through these devastating times. God bless

Hi I'm 56 and a never smoker and a year ago had multiple small brain tumours and LMD. It's all gone and has been for months now and still waiting for the DVLA to make their decision on my license. I had the alk mutation and am on a newly approved inhibitor called Brigatinib. I hope your mum's treatment works well for her.

I am new to this site but was diagnosed stage IV NSCLC last October. I have mets to brain and adrenal gland too. I had SRS for brain last November which has shrunk one tumour and the other cant be seen. Having 3 weekly infusions of Pembrolizumab alone for lung and scan after 4 infusions showed reduction in lung tumour and stable in adrenal gland. I know I cannot be cured but am absolutely determined to live as long and well as I can!

I was unfortunate enough to be mis diagnosed with lung cancer 11 years ago and had a bilobectomy and chest wall reconstruction for what turned out to be an abscess - and now cancer in the third of the lungI have left!

Stay strong for your mum - I live alone quite a way from my two daughters but they are so supportive and their strength definitely impacts on me.

I hope your mum’s treatment is going well and that you are able to stay as positive as you can. All best wishes for positive results x
