I am due to start chemotherapy for lung cancer on Wed 19th July but have been told this afternoon that the metastised cancer in my left hip needs immediate attention becasue of the potential fracture and that I should not put any weight on it. Tomorrow morning I have to attend an orthopaedic clinic for them to decide whether or not the hip will need to be pinned. This, I understand would delay the start of chemotherapy. Please has anybody else experienced a similiar situation? I do not wish to delay the start of chemo and wondered if anyone knows if the injection of Denosumab which I am supposed to be having might be sufficient in order to not have the pinning so that chemo can go ahead as planned. I really think it is important to start my chemo. Any advice would be gladly received. Thank you.

I would have a word with your oncologist and the orthopedic doctor.

I am sure they will understand and advise.

Oh thank you for your very speedy reply, Jilly. I shall do my best to speak to the oncologist as well but I believe he is in clinic all day and it may not be possible. I am feeling that my treatment is very disjointed and no one seems to have the whole picture but maybe that's my anxiety leading.

Why not phone the oncologist secretary and explain. They should be able to help.

Good luck. Xx
