Right pulmonary hilum

Hi, first post, so here goes. I am 65yo female smoker who had a chest infection 10 days ago. Went to GP and was prescribed antibiotics/steroids and had to have chest xray. 3 days later had the xray and 4 days after DR phoned to say I had to have a CT scan as xray showed prominent R pulmonary hilum. My scan is on Friday and since speaking to GP a week ago I can't sleep/eat, feel constantly sick and now been prescribed diazepan for anxiety. I am not dealing with this and don't even know for sure this is bad, but every bone in my body is telling me the worst.

Oh stay stronge until yu get the results, speculation only brings on anxiety feelings and it could be something that they can deal with and not serious, I now it's not easy, hope it all turns out ok for yu all the best

Hello Camant, Please try not to worry too much, Its not easy saying relax I know. I think a lot of your symptoms are probably due to worrying.

Wait until you have had your scan, then your doctor or consultant will be able to put you in the picture.

Waiting is possibly the worst feeling of all as is the unknown. The positives are they are acting quick so that's good and results will not take long. Can't tell you not to worry as you will but just try to occupy yourself with other stuff instead. Take care x

Good that they have detected whatever they have and that you are now in the treatment pathway. try and distract yourself with other things - lose yourself in a film or something if you can. worrying will only add to your physical symptoms and not sleeping won't help - although that can be weather related at the moment as well. your medic will be able to explain your results and recommend treatments - fearing the worst isn't productive - that can lead to you becoming a recluse…. not a good idea…. good luck. lots of us on here have lived through similar waits and anxiety and hopefully show you that you can come out the other side, vent or moan on here and hopefully get some reassurance from others who've been on this path before you…. good luck.

It is only natural that we worry about results such as yours.However not all hilar prominces are malignant,some are caused by, for example,benign inflammatory disease.No doubt you will have had your scan by now and it will not be long before it is reported on. Try not to think too far ahead. May well be related to the infection or other causes. I'm a lung cancer patient in remission presently (1st anniversary of my op today) but also a gp so see it from both sides. The important thing is that things are being done quickly and everyone has to be cautious. Best of luck. X

Hi, have just had CT scan results. Clear for tumours but showing signs of COPD. Have to have another check up/scan in 3 months. A huge thank you to those who responded and to all fighting their own battles, stay strong and very best wishes for the future.
