Hi folks
I wondered if any of you guys had had experience with Small cell lung cancer and confusing diagnosis. In terms of limited or extensive. When I asked they said stage 3 but not cureable and although it's limited that it's borderline limited? This is a family member and not myself.
Treatment is chemotherapy alone

Hi my boyfreind. Was diagnosed. In sept 2016 and with sclc which wasn't. Curable he haf 6 sessions of chemo which has been the same treetment.for 15 years he wad then due to start radio. But sadly he didnt make it he passed the end of march aftet 6months diagnosis most new treetments are for nsclc with a better sucsess rate in my opinion my boy freind wad told chemo. Could extend his life. By 3years this wad not to be aftet reading up on this its say sny thing from 3months to over 3 year my boyfreind. Sufferd. Terrible with thr chemo and this horrid illness for nothing. I dont want to sound blunt and evryone is diffrent. I would like that u can get some positive. Feedback from sclc suffers. Who. Have survied for a few year without any pain. And all that goes with it i felt chemo wad a waist of timeand money the researchers should be looking for more treetments for sclc good luck to all sclc suffering. This dreadfull ilness
My husband was diagnosed last June with sclc. He is fighting this with all his might. His tumor has grown around his heart and his windpipe. They told us he would die within a year even after chemo and radio which made him so sick. Now we live each day as it comes and hope that they find a cure for this devastating disease. I feel your pain and im sorry for your loss x
My husband was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer last September.We were told he had 1 year to live but then he was found to have the mutation in his cancer which seems to be in people who have smoked although he stopped 5 years ago.He has been on immunotherapy since last October and yesterday we were given the wonderful news the cancer has disappeared..We have been warned it will come back but when we don't know. He will continue for the next year or so with the treatment, but at the moment things are looking good and he is really enjoying his golf.We are very grateful to Christies for all they have done it is a wonderful place and we send all our best wishes to all sufferers.

My husband was diagnosed in Feb 2017 with SCLC. His treatment began that month(6 rounds of chemo) and on the two last rounds they overlapped radiation for 25 days. His first CT scan that diagnosed it showed the cancer was in one lung, liver, lymph glands above lungs and lower in lymph in medial spine. He completed all chemo in early June and the radiation treatment a week after. He also had an additional 10 days radiation treatment on his brain only which finished Friday.
We are now waiting for July 13 which is our next PET scan.
They have loosely told us stage 4 although that's technically the label.

Thank you for getting back to me. It's a little confusing but we are seeing oncologist again this week so we can ask the questions we have to him too. Sometimes it's nice to speak to others who are going through or have been through similar so I appreciate your response

There is an interesting piece in today's Action Radiotherapy showing a long term European study in which the Christie, Manchester has taken part that has shown the most positive outcomes for small cell lung cancer with combined radiotherapy (SABR) and chemotherapy. Unsure where you are based, but worth asking the oncologist the question about radiotherapy options. At the various conferences I've attended, you're right, there is professional difference of opinion about the limited treatment options available so it's much harder for patients and relatives to find out options. Hi....chemo didn't go ahead for second round today due to low white cell
Blood count. Dr did say that radiotherapy will only be explored after 4 rounds of chemo have finished
Hi my husband had been diagnosed with SCLC stage3 T4 N1 inoperable. He had 2 cycle of Chemo then chemoradiation. All in all 4 cycles of Chemo and 25 Radiation. He is still suffering from the side effects. We see the oncologist end of this month how he get on. The oncologist told us it's only 10 to 20% curable. If they can't cure it the treatment will continue. Everybody is different, it's not cureable desease but it's treatable.

My husband was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer in June 2016 and had five of the six chemo treatments. He is still here fighting this awful disease but we both hold on to our bucket list of things to do to build our memories together. My husband has lost a lot of weight and it's a daily struggle to get him to eat but we won't let this disease defeat us we have lots of exciting things to do together. Please stay positive. We see the consultant on Thursday after a battle to get a ct scan fingers crossed we get some good news. My husband has chosen not to have any further treatment and to have quality time with me which has been hard to accept. Good luck everyone but remember stay positive xx
