If Cancer has spread what next?

Hello

I've posted before but my mum had a lobectomy last Jan due to stage 4 non small cell, cancer came back so Chemo for 3 months over summer scan showed cancer still growing so then no treatment

She's had terrible side back pain near op site so we've just had another ct scan seeing consultant on Wed (mums gp saw results last week and she is now on morphine & in his words I'm not a specialist but it doesn't look good) is there anything a consultant can do?

I'm thinking stick with GP (who she likes) and try and get district nurses in?

Many thanks all for reading

X

Dear BusyBee75

So sorry to hear about your Mum and her recent health concerns. The priority is certainly effective pain control and it is good she has such a good rapport with her GP.

We would encourage you to keep the appointment with the Consultant , to be clear on the result of the CT scan and see what He/She has to offer as way of a treatment or management plan.

Be supported by any service that they can offer you i.e Macmillan nurses, your Mums lung cancer specialist nurse and of course ongoing GP care.

If you wish to discuss anything you can call us on our nurse led helpline number

0333 323 7200

All the best

Hello Busy Bee, Sorry to hear about your mum. Like the Roy Castle support team have advised , see the consultant and see what he has to say or offer. Macmillan are very good in these sort of circumstances. The lung cancer nurse should be able to help you too.

Hugs and prayers to you and mum.
