John is in ICU. He had his first treatment on Sept 11 and seemed OK until Friday. He has a blood clot in heart, heart rate not in control, now has congestive heart failure and much lower function. Cancerous fluid around lung has returned a week after removing one and a half liters of fluid and now he also has fluid around his heart. There will be no more chemo for cancer, just trying to stabilize his heart. Getting steroids to counteract the chemo as immune system seems to be attacking more than the cancer. Prayers would be greatly appreciated. He has always been a warrior and the strongest man I know. He overcame a soft tissue sarcoma cancer in 1993 and believed he would do the same with this stage four. Both cancers are Agent Orange related. He is the love of my life and we have been together over 50 years. This is not the way it was supposed to happen. I survived when I wasn’t suppose to and I sincerely believed he would, too. At this point he is in God’s hands since medicine has failed him.

NCpoet I am saddened to hear this report about your dear husband. You are in my prayers. May our heavenly Father be very near to you both and give you His peace and comfort, throughout this ordeal.
They can’t do any procedures until heart is stabilized. It was at 15% function on Friday and has clots. It was beating at 140 but thankfully now at 100. They will retest to see how heparin is doing. He is breathing easy with the oxygen and was allowed to eat yesterday. High steroids are working to counteract negative chemo results. When heart is more stable they can address the fluid around the heart and lung. They then hope to give him drugs to strengthen the heart. Talk about the cancer is on hold.
I supported him during his cancer in 1993, he supported me during my stage 4 lung cancer in 2013, and now it is my turn again to support him. It seems to be a ride that doesn’t stop.
Sadly for some that's unfortunately the way it goes. My dad had bowel cancer twice in his 50s and my mum supported him. She developed alzheimers around 15 years ago and he supports her so when he had another bowel cancer 3 years ago, we all supported him (my sisters and I). They've just celebrated 65 years anniversary (and had a card from the Queen) My dad sees it as his 'job' to care for mum and keep her at home despite his increasing frailty. Very important to keep up your own health and spirits when caring for others so hope you have a good support network yourself. take care.

I’d just like to convey to you what I read in another post about agent orange.
If your husbands cancer is related to agent orange, you and you’re husband are entitled to benefits from the VA. The thing is you have to ask the VA for the benefits for agent orange exposure, they won’t offer them.
