Cancer maintenance treatment

Hi everyone.

My dad just did PET and good news is that the cancer has not progressed neither in lungs nor in the brain. But they found quite a big inflammation/ adenoma in the brain causing my dad a memory loss. Doctors say that it could be from the radiotherapy.

For now, doctors said to continue with Keytruda, Zometa, Alimta and they added Bevacizumab.

Wanted to see if anyone has been on this treatment and what was the outcome.

I have only been on Alimta. No progression is great news! Is the new drug for the inflation?

Which one?

I typed inflammation and it changed to inflation. Sometimes I forget to check before sending. The new drug you mentioned is the one I was wondering about. I haven’t heard of it and wondering what it was for.

When I checked on the internet , looks like it is for different types of cancer including brain cancer. I assume the doctor gave it because of the inflammation? Don’t know quite frankly and trying to figure it out.

That makes sense. Thanks for info. There are so many new drugs since I was in treatment and I like to be aware of what is being prescribed . Praying this will take care of inflammation for your dad.

Bevacizumab (Avastin) prevents the cancer from starting new blood vessels to feed itself. It also helps to reduce the existing blood vessels.

Thanks, Denzie. I just had a follow up MRI on my head to see if there had been any changes. I have lesions on parietal bones on both sides. Were thought to be benign when found but since I have had a lot of headaches last two months, wanted to make sure no changes. All is exactly same. So still believing these are benign. I am trying to stay educated on all the new drugs. My CT last week shows lungs still clear.

With 20-some new drugs approved in the last 3 years it’s hard to keep up! You’re smart to do that though.

I’m grateful to learn that they don’t think the lesions are growing or malignant. Sending hope they find the source of the headaches soon.
