Anyone familiar with services like SignUpGenius or VolunteerSpot? Did you use it to help during treatment?

An acquaintance of mine uses sign up genius and has had wonderful results with it. She’s blind and undergoing treatment for cancer. Her only child lives 500 miles away and manages the app from her home. My acquaintance uses it to get to appointments, shopping, and movies (she buys a ticket for the driver).

For patients that live alone, or those who have caregivers with other obligations these services insure that she can get where she wants to be. They’re also good for the overwhelmed caregiver.

Meal trains are also easier to organize using these types of services. Other ideas include lawn care, snow shoveling, laundry help, and housekeeping.

Are there other, similar services that you would recommend to a new patient?

The beauty of these services is that they are online and can be accessed anywhere. My acquaintance lives in Michigan her daughter is either in Maine or Vermont and manages it from her own house. I’d love to hear what your nurse says.
